The Industrial Revolution caused many changes in society. One main idea about the Industrial Revolution is that people went from living in the rural (country) to living in the urban (city) areas. Many people decided to do this because the city had many more work opportunities. There were factories in the city that offered many jobs.

The Industrial Revolution used machines as opposed to manual labor. The farmers went from pulling crops with their hands to getting tractors and other devices to do it for you. The factories had machines that did most of the work for the employees. The main idea is hat it went from manual labor to machines doing the work.

This caused women to enter the workforce. We know this invention to now be the keyboard on everyday computers or accessories to a computer monitor.

He was a wealthy business owner who led to the expansion of the steel industry. Not only was he a wealthy business owner, he was a philanthropist. This means that he thought that wealthy people should not hold all of their money to themselves but to donate it to less fortunate people. His favorite thing to do with all his money he earned was to build libraries for cities since he thought everyone should be educated. He donated to many other foundations as well.

One new word that I've learned during this unit is philanthropist. A philanthropist is a wealthy person who gives their money to charity. They believe that keeping their money for themselves is selfish and it deserves to go to a better cause. They build libraries or donate to shelters or any other ways to give back to societies.

I learned that the Industrial Revolution wasn't everyone doing good. I learned that because of new inventions that Native Americans suffered because their land was being taken from them to build railroads. Also, farmers were being treated unfairly by the railroad industry. They were charged a lot of money to transport their goods from coast to coast or a different location.

Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876. This caused it to be easier for people to communicate. I can relate this to the past because we use phones now a days. People around the world has some sort of telephone now. The original telephone progressed into what now we called smartphones, such as IPhones and Galaxies.
