Clara Kramers father built a hiding spot in an area underneath their house. The space was dug out by hand. The door fit like a puzzle piece in the floor to secure the hiding spot. The ceiling was 4 ft tall and the main space was at least 50 square meters. Two metal handles were used to open the trap door from the inside.
