Using the desktop publishing program  Adobe Express, my objective is to teach students to use digital tools to create art. 

Last week I gave students an assignment in gratitude. They were to write an acrostic poem with the aforementioned theme. Once drafted, students could turn their attention to designing the visual presentation of their poems with Adobe Express.

The “Thanksgiving Address,” (the Ohen:ton Karihwatehkwen) is the invocation for the Haudenosaunee (also known as the Iroquois Confederacy or Six Nations — Mohawk, Oneida, Cayuga, Onondaga, Seneca, and Tuscarora). It reflects their relationship of giving thanks for life and the world around them. 

The “Thanksgiving Address” teaches mutual respect, conservation, love, generosity, and the responsibility to understand that what is done to one part of the “Circle of Life,” we do to ourselves.

Students from every grade level contributed to our celebration by creating artwork to reflect a section of the text.
