         <description><![CDATA[<p>In the short story "Bread", the bread could represent the author's power she holds over the reader. She consistently tells us to "imagine" things. By making the bread do something abnormal, and not what we'd expect, we are forced to "imagine" it. The concluding paragraph was her final way of showing that she can control the story, and our perceptions of the story. </p>]]></description>
