         <title>Gin &amp; Tonic Cocktail  - Demi van Rooij</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>To make a classic ‘<em>G and</em> <em>T</em>’ you’ll need to pour 50ml of gin in a cold glass filled with ice and then top it up with tonic water. Traditionally it’s served with a slice of lime, but nowadays people also put other fruits, herbs, or vegetables as garnish.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>The cocktail was first introduced in the 18<sup>th</sup> century by the army of the British East India Company in India. Back then malaria was a major issue in India. To treat this disease, they mixed quinine with tonic water. The flavor was very bitter, so to make the mixture a little more tasty people started to add water, sugar, lime and most importantly: gin. And that’s how Gin &amp; Tonic was originated.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Fun fact: eventually they found out the mixture didn’t actually help against treating malaria, so people just started drinking it for fun.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Cornish pasties are a type of pastry filled with meat and potatoes. It used to be very popular among workers in mines and factories. They are easy to take with you and you do not need utensil or a plate to eat them.<br><br>The pasties British people know nowadays are a part of their cuisine. This dish is very similar to the so-called "empanadas" made in Spain and South America.<br><br>The dish owes its name to a town in the south named Cornwall. You could obviously get your hands on a pastry there, but it can also be found at most bakeries.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>What is Indian curry?&nbsp;</strong></div><div>Curry is a dish made out of sauce seasoned with spices. This dish is mainly associated with south Asian cuisine. There are lots of varieties of curry. The selection of spices differs because of national, regional cultural tradition, religious practice, or preferences of the chef.&nbsp;</div><div>It is commonly eaten with rice or different sorts of bread like naan or chapati.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>How did Indian curry become a part of the British culture?</strong></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>UK and India are historically closely related. In the late 1600s, the British started trading with India. India was a colony of the British. British traders who came back to England wanted to continue to enjoy the Indian cuisine. Some brought back their Indian chefs to the UK. Those who couldn’t afford a private chef could go to the Indian coffee houses. Here people could enjoy the Indian curries.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Indian curry has become a big part of the British culture. They even call chicken tiki masala a true British national dish.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
