One character trait I can see in my novel is calm. For example when the main character Rashad was getting beaten by the cop he remained calm and even remained calm in the hospital. "The truth is, I was feeling two ways. Physically, I obviously didn't feel great, that;s for sure. But not terrible... breathing through my nose wasn't an option but i was okay. Hell, i'm alive" pg. 45 -David Scheer

This is clear when a boy tries to befriend her and she thinks to herself, "Everything about this screams against the second rule: Trust no one" (22).
- Mrs. Collins

She says what she means and defends herself and the people she cares about. For example, the father of the boy she likes tells his son to stay away from her and for her to come no where near them. The father threatens her and she defends herself by saying, "If you ever threaten me again, if you ever come near me again, I'll tell my grandmother and you'll be sacked," (124). This leaves the father speechless.
