Towards the end of my Senior year in High school, I was required to present a project about something important to me. I chose to write about an experience I had in Greece involving the Syrian Refugees flooding the country. My constant update through daily blogging caught the attention of people back home who wanted to bring the issue to the table of Western Society starting in my neighborhood. They used my writing as a voice to the public making people recognize what is TRULY happening versus what the media says.

Greek Myths

Growing up in a Greek household, it was not uncommon to discuss Greek mythology. Constantly my father and uncle (his brother) would tell me the tales of how Theseus slayed the Minotaur or how Zeus killed Kronos alongside his brother Hades and Poseidon. These myths taught me how to tell a story in a dramatic and (at the time) convincing way.

Although High school was fun and games, there were stressful times in writing that challenged my ability to show that I am indeed a literate human being. To write countless essays about myself, glorifying an imperfect person, pointing out my strengths, they all seemed very narcissistic to me which I wasn't too comfortable with. You could say that me tooting my own horn felt unusual compared to the traditional essay style I was used to. Nevertheless I learned things about myself that I wouldn't have if I did not write the way I did.

Greek School was probably the biggest chunk of my life that was not about math, science, or english. I hated Greek School. I thought that it was a waste of my time and I could not grasp the language. Wednesday was the day when I had to go to school, learn the alphabet, speak, study passages, and so on. But out of all this frustration I learned that there would be a time that this would pay off, speaking to grandparents and relatives or just communicating with others in the country. Not many can say that so it's something to feel proud about.

OK. Before I express my opinion about President Trump, I think he is indeed a literate person, lets make that clear. So, if he's literate, he knows how to speak, right? Well according to the media (and himself) he knows a lot and I respect a man with confidence even if he is absolutely false about things. I love to read the media and follow Trump on twitter because he is a man with goals and speaks about what is on his mind. You learn so much from a person who is upfront. I don't approve of him being president and do not think he is fit but as a citizen of America he absolutely hilarious.

These experiences I've chosen below are examples of how I, as a student, was able to properly formulate a constructive story either about me or others. The skills I've accumulated from my past teachers or advisors allowed me to learn to write in such a descriptive manor. These personal stories below are just snippets throughout my life that have shaped me into the writer I am today.
