I found it interesting to learn about the left and right wing extremist views and about the conflict happening in the country right now. I also liked learning about PREVENT because I think it's important to learn about so we can safeguard children in our care in the future.

I didn't like the video very much. It felt very awkward and I did not want to participate. I didn't like the fact that I had to write down my feelings in front of people on the table. I think learning about mental health and self care is important but it would be better learning in a different form.

Career Development

I think it's important to think about where you are going in life and start thinking about what career you want to do. I also think it would good to think about the characteristics of someone who works in the job you want

Financial Harm

I learnt about different ways I could be financially harmed e.g. scams, fraud etc. I also learnt about the rights that I have when buying goods as well as with pay in the workplace. I think it's important to learn all of this to protect us from financial harm as well as telling us where we can get help if we do end up with it

Sexual Health

I think it was good to look into sexual health and where people can get support for it. I think it is important to talk about because there can be a lot of stigma around it which can harm people. I liked that there was a part about misinformation because I hear a lot of times misinformation coming from people my age and even educators when they taught us in secondary school so personally that was the most important about this topic

Health and Safety

I liked the part about risk assessment as that i super important for the jobs we all want to go into and the more we do it the better we'll get at it. I think it was important to put the real life example into it to help engage people since some people might not be worried about it in their job role. I liked learning about the responsibilities of an employer for future reference when working.

Drugs and Substances

I think it was important to add in what affect drugs can have on your development because lots of people don't consider that when they take drugs. I liked learning abut this subject as I think it's important in the job roles we want to go into. I liked the case studies, I thought they were interesting. The only thing I would change is adding in more places to get support for people who are struggling with this

World Religion Day

It was interesting to learn about why world religion day waws created, as well as the biggest followed religions in the world. We learnt about Zoroastrianism. The origins are from Iran and was formed in the mid-6th century (BCE). They have the Tenets of Faith which has core beliefs like their creator (Ahura Mazda meaning wise God) made everything and cannot be seen. They have between 110,000-120,000 followers globally. It is the smallest followed religion in the world. It has significantly influenced the Persian culture like their beliefs, customs and social structures.

Celebrations and Traditions:

Nowruz - Persian New Year

Gahambars - six seasonal festivals that celebrate the sizz divine creators of Azhura Mazda.

We also learnt about atheism and humanism. I think it is important to learn about these so you educated about other people's culture and other things that go on in the world.

Career Development

Based on my course now the three careers I would be interested in doing are pastoral support in schools, sports teacher and special school teacher.

SEN Teacher:

Salary: £32-49,000

37-45 hours a week during term

Future Employment - 2.6%

Sports Coach:

Salary £19-28,000

Differing hours

Future Employment - 3.2%

I feel I know relatively well on how to get into doing these jobs, and know well about what these jobs entail.

colleges week

Colleges week is the national week that recognises all further education in the UK. The focus is 'skills' for all. I was drawn to SGS because of the lecturers and the classrooms. I decided to go to college because I thought doing an apprenticeship would be too much for me but I did not want to do A levels. I find time management and team work the hardest skills.

I would roughly pay £3,500 tax

I would pay roughly £1,500 national insurance

I would be left with roughly £25,000 a year

The tutorial was about how taxes and national insurance works. It gave me an idea of how much money I will pay in taxes and how much money I will take home after

I think this is important to learn about as I haven't done this before

Fast fashion

Fast fashion is responsible for around 17-20% of global water pollution. Chemical dyes comes at a big environmental cost. Residue from synthetic chemicals used to make dyes can be found in out air, water, and soil. There are 72 toxic chemicals in our water that originate form the dyeing process. 51% of our clothes contain polyester which is plastic. It is not biodegradable and cannot be recycled. In a recent study, 98% of water samples taken from the sea contained micro plastics, 92% of which were fibres and 75% of which were polyester, the same width and colour as used in clothing. Fast fashion prices are kept low through low-quality manufacture of garments and poor working conditions for those in the industry. Internet orders have a much higher rate of returned product. As much as 50% of the total fast fashion returned product is not put back into stock - either burned or put in landfill as this is cheapest way of dealing with it
