Through them, he begins to construct an image of Joanna as a Jewish woman, a mother, and a citizen.

What makes collections great or valuable might not be the actual things but memories, thoughts or feelings connected to the things. For example, collecting souvenirs from all the contries you visit or a mug from all the places you have been too... The thing it self might not be valuable but the thought or memory of the trip or country is speciel.
Also, the collection manifests or gives a view of how much you have seen/ experienced.

Another way to collect is to find something random or not valuable but that there is some kind of treasure hunt in - like finding special variants or kinds and collecting as much as possible. Like stamps, stickers or even stickers on fruit.
There can be a weird joy in finally finding a new or rare sticker/stamp to add to your collection.

Many vernacular, everyday objects are quickly disappearing from the global marketplace, often to be replaced by inferior copies produced at a lesser cost and that bothers us. As independent manufacturers were being undercut and closing, likewise the goods they produced, often filled with inspiration and character as the result of local aesthetics and needs, were falling to the wayside. And yet, we, along with many of our peers, found these goods to be essential to our work, creation and existence. And so, we, as KIOSK, began the process of collecting and showing these common goods that we believe are so essential and inspirational to humanity.
