the first thanksgiving somewere took place in 1621 between September and November. the pilgrims of plymouth Plantation had ben in America for a year.they were now harvesting the crops that the wampanoag had taught them how to grow. Because food was plentlful for the first time. they Declded to celebrate. According to anccount by Edward Winslow, they sent four men hunting for wild birds. they killed enough birds in one day to feed the sellement for a week. The wampanoag killed five deer, and together, they had an enormous feast that lasted for three days. 53 Pilgrims and 90 Native Americans took part in the feast.

The feast wasn’t called Thanksgiving, it was just a harvest celebration. In July 1623, the pilgrims held a religious day of prayer called Thanksgiving. Over the years, the names got mixed up, and that is why the holiday is called Thanksgiving today.
