The only reason this reign lasted so long was because Robespierre was doing fun things such as war and guillotining people which as we know the French do love themselves some murder. So Robespierre just killed until people were like "All right I'm all murdered out lets go kill the guy who's been killing others for our last murder, sound good guys?" and everyone was like "HELL YEAH! It was there to win the support of the people of Robespierre.
