During the outbreak of HIV/Aids in the 1980s, people were terrified as a result of the miscommunication about the virus. Diana visited hospitals and interacted with patients infected with the virus, to illustrate to the public that people with AIDS are not dangerous, as she shown through shaking their hands without gloves on. One image that captured this dominated the news and tabloid press, which illustrates Diana as someone who wants to help such causes through the means of her star image and her relationship with the press.

During this interview Diana opens up for the fist time about her marriage breakdown between her and Charles. She also explains other hurdles she has been faced with such as throwing herself down the stairs while pregnant, depression and bulimia. This is a very noble step she has table, coming from the eyes of the public, as nothing like it had been done before in terms of speaking out against the royal establishment. This interview developed her star image immensely because it gave the public access to very personal and delicate matters within her life, of which many people go through. As a result, the public feel as though they can relate and resonate with her due to how vulnerable she is being to such a large audience.
