Marcus Julius Brutus was born 85 BC in Macedonia. Brutus was raised by an uncle, Cato the Younger, in the principles of Stoicism. Following Caesar's self-appointment to perpetual dictator, Brutus joined with Cassius to assassinate Caesar on March 15, 44 BC. Brutus would be driven out and killed himself following a loss in the battle in Philippi.
Motives:
Brutus is good a honoring higher people then him, but in the end he is an Optimate and he will do anything to stop a dictatorship from coming about. Brutus act of always being so honorable makes him very gullible and easy to take advantage of so this allows Cassius to manipulate Brutus consistently.
Allies/Enemies:
Brutus' allies include the fellow optimates Cassius and Casca. I would consider Caesar as his enemy even though he considers him a dear friend he does not like nor want the idea of a dictator to become present.
Archetype:
Brutus fits well in the tragic hero roll because he is very honorable and a good person, even though he is being manipulated by Cassius he is still trying to keep the act of a dictator becoming present in his city. He stays hopeful and passionate throughout all of act 1.
