Almost every move Payton makes is important and changes not only his life but the life of others. This isn't always good because he may put some down to get there. Payton is forced to learn that money cant get him everything (especially getting someone back.) When he looses river it didn't change his end goal, but it changed how he went about it and his personality, and friends. These things led him to not go to Harvard but go to NYU instead.
