Within each stage the modules of content will be delivered in a start-steer-summarize. Level of summary and coaching will depend on what stage participants are in within the stages of online learning. Feedback is imperative to building community, creating pace, and continuing engagement. Making connections allows for participants to connect with one another and build community, takes those that feel they don't need the content to find a place to look forward with their learning, and finally - making connection allows for the learning to feel cohesive in a space that can often feel one dimensional or disconnected. ]]> 2020-05-15 14:20:38 UTC https://padlet.com/proflearn1/c8w6ovtszxejg1wj/wish/575206853 arczyns https://padlet.com/proflearn1/c8w6ovtszxejg1wj/wish/575230180 There are so many great things that resonated with me over the two weeks and the learning in this course.  Making sure feedback is timely, and moves the learning forward and deeper is probably my biggest take away.  I also really liked learning about Gilly Salmon's model as well as "Start - Steer- Summarize".  Both of these models I will also be implementing in my classroom and with my staff at the school I work at.  It is also very important that the participants remain engaged and that the information and strategies presented are relevant and able to be implemented upon return to their classrooms.   It was a great course and I am excited to begin!

I think we all can use work on providing feedback, but in a n online setting, we need to be especially mindful. As a facilitator, we help develop relationships and foster a positive learning community where participants feel safe to take the risks necessary to grow as a learner. We guide the learners to individually and collectively explore new ideas via inquiry so that they may deepen, expand and/or gain new understanding. The methods we learned will come in handy in my 'day job' as well as my online facilitation for AVID. Being able to diffuse a dominating personality, make effective, positive suggestions or guide an online conversation will make me more effective at both.

It has me thinking how important the organization of content delivered is. There must be intentionally scaffolding to support all learners virtually and I am really looking forward to seeing how AVID has translated strands to virtual learning. It is still a big wonderment as this two week course did not mirror that of the Digital XP experience. I wonder what it would actually feel like to have 90 sync. 90 mins async. etc. from home. I wonder it will be like to monitor participation and my biggest question, how do we monitor that learning is taking place. Interacting with colleagues has been enlightening, and the opportunity collectively to learn and explore new ideas in a safe space is meaningful and appreciated. Within relationships, we must listen, support and guide the conversation with facts, but must also step back to allow the participants to find meaning that can be applied in each individual case.  We must also use the skills to facilitation in a scaffolded model to ensure all participants are able to engage fully without constraints of technology or other non content related issues.
