The strongest appeal in Elie Wiesel’s is ethos. An example of ethos used in the speech is, “I speak to you, of course, not only as a teacher but also as a witness.” This is an example of ethos because he is assuring us with his credibility of being not only a teacher, but a witness.

In Elie Wiesel’s speech, the strongest appeal is ethos. The reason why ethos serves as the strongest appeal is because he is talking about the topic by saying he was a witness. He is telling others things based on his past experiences and what has happened in his life thus far.

The tone of the story is inspirational. “When you enter this world and you say the world is not good today, good! Correct it!” This quote is inspirational because he is giving strong advice about going out into the world without hesitating, and to try new things.

In the of the speech, the speakers express the purpose of being yourself no matter what because you cannot go on without being yourself. In Elie Wiesel’s words he explains to us that, “we must be before we give. We must shield and protect the identity, the inner identity that we have and that makes us who we are,”(Wiesel 1). In the quote, he explains to us that we need to be true to ourselves in order to push on with life correctly.
