Influenced by Billie-Joe Armstrong’s set-up, I run a Stratocaster through a distorted Amplifier, using low gain and high volume with an aggressive playing style. Inspired by Billie’s lyrics, I write fast-paced punk-rock with lyrics about social issues or relationships. My performances mimic Armstrong’s intense stage presence and his casual skate-punk attire has inspired my personal style. My ethics stem from leftist-punk values promoted by Green Day, such as DIY ethics and Local Economies. (Premier Guitar, 2013) (Crooks, 2020).

I’m greatly Influenced by the cultural affect the Beatles had on music. The culture shockwave sent across the earth by the Beatles continues to effect and inspire individuals to this day. All musicians and creative types alike should aspire to achieve even a fraction of the inspiration and significance the Beatles have made to modern music, arts and culture.

The Who had a large part in Green-days "Power Rock" stylings. Drummer, Tré Cool, was heavily inspired by The Who's: Kieth Moon, often replicating the heavy and rhythmic use of the kick. Cool's onstage energy is a direct influence of Moon, utilising high energy within his visual and audible performance. (Tie, 2020)

The Ramones defined the west-coast punk scene in New York. Green Day were massively influenced by their edgy derelict style, and fast-paced melodic punk. GD's debut album: '409 in your coffeemaker' takes inspiration with fast punchy riffs and melodic lead vocals. Billie has even gone on record as calling Joey Ramone the: "Jesus of Punk".

Stiff Little Fingers are a 70's Irish Punk group. Their debut album: 'Inflammable Material's' influence is apparent in Green Days style. Both bands feature melodic vocals & harmonies, large dynamic range's and complex yet well executed arrangements. Bands like Stiff Little Fingers paved the way for alternative punk, 20 years before it's hay-day. (Tie, 2020)

The members of The Beatles were inspired by Buddy Holly's ephemeral career, each in their own ways. Paul and John were inspired to use duo-style vocals in their songs by Buddy Holly's singing style, and covered "Words of Love" By Holly in their debut own. The name: "The Beatles" itself was inspired by Buddy Holly's band and backing vocalist's, affectionally named: "The Crickets" (Whatley, 2022)

John and Paul were greatly inspired by the Everly Brothers singing styles and harmonisation. They implemented similar harmonies within their own compositions, encapsulating the warm harmonic blend of the Everly Brothers vocals. Songs from the Beatles early work such as 'She loves you' and 'All my loving' showcase the stylistic similarities and evident inspiration the Everly Brothers had on the Beatles composition's.

George Harrison often attempt to replicate Chuck Berry's most iconic riffs and guitar-playing style. This can be observed in The Beatles second studio album "With the Beatles" (1963). Track 8: 'Roll Over Beethoven' is even a cover of a Chuck berry song originally released in 1956. Later in The Beatles career it was often Chuck Berrys inspiration that grounded the band back to their roots in rock and blues. (Whatley, 2022)
