         <description><![CDATA[<div>Located in the middle part of the brain, the basal <a href="http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-ganglia.htm">ganglia</a> is the area of the brain that is responsible for a great deal of motor control and learning. This area works in conjunction with the cerebral cortex and the <a href="http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-thalamus.htm">thalamus</a> to help us make decisions and shift between activities. It consists of the <a href="http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-striatum.htm">striatum</a>, pallidium, substanta nigra, and the subthalamic <a href="http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-nucleus.htm">nucleus</a>.</div>]]></description>
