"Bend Over Backwards" - He did whatever he could to contribute and help the country and the citizens. He made Singapore a better place and created a well-known icon. 

"Determination" - He did not just do things lightly but he fought with determination to make the decision he made to happen. If the decision he wanted was not accepted, he would provide evidence and support to make the decision right.
