         <description><![CDATA[<p>After watching those Padlet videos, which were very helpful if I may add. I've set up my own Padlet board to track my learning journey. I called it "My Learning Adventure." I picked a layout that lets me arrange things the way I want. I made sure it's set to public so others can see it too. I even brightened up the background to make it look attractive. Basically, this Padlet is where I'll collect and post all my thoughts, notes, screenshots and learning from all the assigned activities. I'm hoping it'll be a place where my classmates and I can share ideas and help each other out. As I learn more and find new stuff, I'll keep adding to it.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Pocket V/S Pinterest</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Pinterest is where I would go when I want to find a certain aesthetic or to go to visualise ideas. Whether it's for decorating my home, cooking new recipes, or getting fashion inspiration, Pinterest has lots of pictures to explore. I can save the ideas I like to my own boards, which helps me keep everything organized. I also like that I can connect with other people who have similar interests and see what they're pinning. I like that I can post stuff as well and that I can also express an idea of something through mood boards, which is quite convenient to create, thanks to Pinterest. </p><p><br></p><p>Whereas, Pocket is more like a tool for saving articles and stuff I find on the internet to read later. It works on my computer, phone, and tablet, so I can access my saved stuff wherever I am. I like that it suggests articles based on what I've saved before, which helps me find new things to read. It's great for when I come across interesting articles but don't have time to read them right away. I also like how they aren't just all serious readings but also has relatable content like "How to clean your washing machine in 20 minutes", Oh I so need to read that. </p><p><br></p><p>All in all, I feel like both serve a different purpose but share the same soul of organisation. I had a great experience using them both! </p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The fast evolution of social media platforms and digital tools has revolutionised the way people interact, share information, and take part in activities online. Through the help of the Digilife module, I have learned to use various social media tools, including Pocket, Pinterest, Screencast-O-Matic, YouTube Editing Platform, and Google Maps Mapping Tool. These tools not only enhance my own personal productivity and creativity but also encourage me to participate more as a digital citizen. In this reflection, I will explore how these tools can support my online engagement, with reference from scholarly and popular sources.&nbsp;</p><p><br/></p><p>To begin with, Pocket is a powerful tool for saving and curating content from the web, helping me to store articles, videos, and other resources for later use. This function is particularly useful for staying informed about current events and issues. By organising and sharing saved content, I can stay informed about discussions and share these things within my friends and family. According to a study by Ali-Hassan et al. (2015), tools like Pocket facilitate the consumption of diverse information sources, thereby enhancing my knowledge base and critical thinking skills. This is important for me since I like to engage in meaningful online debates, for instance.&nbsp;</p><p><br/></p><p>Somewhat similar to Pocket, Pinterest serves as a visual perspective and bookmarking tools, that allow me to create and share collections of images, ideas, and aesthetics. It is particularly helpful for things like group work and projects. For instance, I can use Pinterest to organize and promote local events, volunteer opportunities, and social campaigns, even drop shipping and affiliate marketing. A popular source from The New York Times highlights how Pinterest has become a hub for community engagement, especially among creative professionals and hobbyists who use the platform to collaborate on projects and share resources. It were the findings from Marwick and boyd (2011), who emphasises on the role of visualisation in creating a sense of community.</p><p><br/></p><p>Next, Screencast-O-Matic or now known as ScreenPal is a versatile tool for creating screen recordings and video tutorials. It is really good for educating others or addressing something through video content. I can talk while showing things like “How to create an account on Canva”, this way, the viewer will also feel as if someone is having a conversation with them. A scholarly article by Kay (2012) discusses the effectiveness of screen-casting tools in educational settings, noting their ability to enhance learning and engagement through visual and auditory means. This is echoed in a popular article from Forbes, which highlights the growing trend of video content in online communication and its impact on audience engagement.</p><p><br/></p><p>Following the Screenpal recording, we can after edit on, The YouTube Editing Platform, which allows me to edit videos, add effects, and enhance my digital storytelling capabilities. This tool is essential for creating compelling content that can capture the attention of a broad audience. Utilising YouTube's editing features helps me create high-quality videos that can very well convey messages, raise awareness with clarity. A study by Burgess and Green (2018) illustrates how YouTube has democratised content creation, providing users with the tools to participate in public discourse and cultural production. This democratisation is then supported by an article from Wired, which describes YouTube as a platform where diverse voices can be heard and influential narratives can be shaped.</p><p><br/></p><p>Thereafter, I also experimented with the Google Maps Mapping Tool, that offers a dynamic way to create and share custom maps. This tool can be used to highlight important locations and visualize data. For digital citizens like me, mapping tools are instrumental in organising community initiatives, planning events etc. According to research by Zook et al (2010), mapping tools play a crucial role in “grassroots activism and community organizing” by providing context and visualizing local issues. Popular sources, such as an article from TechCrunch, also talk about how Google Maps has become an important tool for local businesses to engage with their audiences.</p><p><br/></p><p>To conclude, Pocket, Pinterest, ScreenPal, YouTube Editing Platform, and Google Maps Mapping Tool are some of the social media tools that we experimented with in this module, and they all have different features that help me interact online as a digital citizen more effectively. These technologies make it easier to curate information, get visual inspiration, create instructional content, tell stories digitally, and map out communities. By using these technologies, I may better participate in online discussions, promote for causes, and develop community ties.</p><p><br/></p><p>Integrating these technologies into my digital routines would&nbsp;not only increase&nbsp;my own productivity, but will&nbsp;also enable&nbsp;me to make a more meaningful contribution to the online community. The Right to Access lets users see their info whenever they want, promoting transparency. For instance, like comment filters to make users feel safe online and key word filters that may mentally trigger them.
