The setting of "The Veldt" introduces a futuristic world where technology has become extremely advanced. The high tech machines in the Happylife Home was said to be selling for a low price, making me believe that nearly everyone would have been able to purchase it, further suggesting that the setting of this world has a ton of technology available to many people, if not everyone.
