Yes, in fact we believe that technology has already surpassed humanity because factory machines can already make cars, computers, and other things more efficiently and better than any human could. Technology hasn't just surpassed humans in making things but in doing things as well, self driving cars are starting to become real and they are able to detect all the cars around them making them better drivers than humans. These facts show how machinery and technology have already surpassed humanity and are just going to go even further. Luckily we have the off button.

The children are so angry with their parents because they have grown up being influenced with technology doing everything they want or need. To the children, their parents taking away their technology is them taking away everything from the kids, being that technology plays such a large roll in their lives, which is why they were so angry. Technology influences young minds by taking over their minds. Technology slowly becomes more present in younger children's lives, influences how they think and function with and without technology.

Peter and Wendy were so angry at their parents for shutting down the nursery because the kids were so technology influenced from a young age that without it they don't even have basic life skills. Peter and Wendy were raised by the nursery instead of their actual parents so they never formed that bond that a mother and child are supposed to have. Since they were raised by technology they reacted negatively when it was taken away from them just like a child would react when their mother is taken away from them.

I believe that the children are angry with their parents because of the significance of technology in their lives. Peter and Wendy were raised in this house that is full of advanced technology that completed the basic tasks for them. The most important part of their home was the nursery, which was created from technology. When the parents decide to take their technology away, including the nursery, they lash out because they cannot imagine their life without them. They do not want to give up their technology which causes them to develop anger towards their parents.

I think the children were angry with their parents mostly because the parents had swore they were going to take away the only thing that the children cared about. In the story, essentially, the nursery is occupying all Peter and Wendy's time which is why they can't imagine their life without it. Technology has such a strong influence on anyone's mind, but especially children to the point that it can takeover your entire mindset and change your perspective on how you see the world. The reason this happens is because we become so focused on phones, or in this case, a sensory room, that we are willing to do anything to make sure we don't lose it.

I think Bradbury chose the setting of the African Veldt as well as predatory animals like lions because they are, in a sense, the default setting and animal for most people. What I mean is that when most people think of dangerous places and dangerous animals, they tend to think of the hot savannah (similar to a veldt) and lions. Another reason Bradbury chose the veldt and lions could be that we generally believe that lions are very aggressive, which could inflict fear to the characters and provide that sense of danger towards the audience.

The children, specifically Peter are so angry because they were given all the technology and it was taken away so abruptly by their parents. They were immensely spoiled, and the parents did not control them. Thus they let technology "parent" their children. The kids cannot live without technology, so when it was taken away, they were filled with anger against their parents. Technology has an immense impact on young minds, as it can lead them to take the wrong decisions. Young minds often don't know the consequences of it and are easily influenced. It can control people minds, and "consume" them.

From moments like when humans created pocket-sized screens that made us stop asking questions, to when we could ask an artificial intelligence to do household tasks when we didn't want to get up, technology has already overcome much of our lives. Not only that, it is replacing workers in certain occupations. Considering how much technology has been developed in such a short time, I believe it will only need to gain sentience to surpass us now.

The amount of parent control is important in how the children turn out. For example, having too much parental control can cause a child to hide important things from you. Also, being too strict as a parent can produce a child good at lying or secretive. On the other hand, not having enough parental control can cause children to become spoiled. With a spoiled child you get someone who is used to getting what they want and when they don't get that, they throw a fit, making it hard for that child to make friends. The short story is an example of spoiled children throwing a fit because they did not get what they want, therefore showing the importance parental control

The nursery, who has raised the children, had a deeper bond with them than they did with their own parents. It made violence seem like merely a concept, not a crime with consequences, and resulted in the children's loss of their humanity.

I think the children do realize what they have done to their parents (at least to some extent). The kids always had high tech machines available to them, which eventually took out their parents' role in their minds. Due to the interference of technology, there is no family relationship left between the parents and children, so to the kids, their parents were simply just obstacles preventing them from enjoying their time with the nursery. When Wendy offers tea to David at the end, her nonchalant and unconcerned attitude suggested that they did not care for what they did. Furthermore, before that scene, there were also several instances where screams were heard and George's wallet and Lydia's scarf were found torn with saliva and blood, which seemed to be traces from the lions (probably used to let the lions familiarize their scent), implying that the children had long planned for this to occur, though I am not sure if they truly wanted their parents dead.

In the short story, the parents found Peter’s chewed old wallet and Wendy's bloody scarf near the nursery which conveys that the children have been planning this incident for a long time. In addition, the nursery and the lions were not supposed to be real, they were supposed to be in their imagination. In order for the technology to function like that, someone has to alter it.

I think technology will, at some point in the future, surpass humanity. We have currently been growing extremely fast regarding the development of technology. Can you believe that 'everyday-use' computers were only introduced in the 1930s? I think that according to our pace and how improvements are made, there will definitely be a time in the future when technology surpasses humanity. The setting of "The Veldt" introduces a futuristic world where technology has become extremely advanced. The high tech machines in the Happylife Home was said to be selling for a low price, making me believe that nearly everyone would have been able to purchase it, further suggesting that the setting of this world has a ton of technology available to many people, if not everyone. I think the story, "The Veldt", will be a reality in the future.

At the beginning, the nursery was stuck as the veldt, and screaming could be heard on multiple occasions. Evidently, that moment where the children had actually killed the parents was not the first time they thought about it. However, they don’t seem aware of the morality and ethical issues that are associated with it, as can be seen by Wendy offering tea to McClean just after killing her parents.

Due to their parents' "nothing's too good for our children" mentality, the kids always had high tech machines available to them at any point of the day, which eventually took out their parents' role in their minds (1). Not only because of the overindulgent parenting methods, but the over-reliance on technology also influenced the childrens' young minds, negatively impacting their growth and development, while also dividing and destroying their family relationship.

The significance of parental control is significant in this short story. I think the parents should have limited the kids time in the nursery so they wouldn't get too attached. If the parents have too much control they kids will just rebel against the parents and if they are too flexible then the kids will think they can get away with anything so the parents need to know when when to be strict and when to be flexible and understanding. - Adeena Syed

Peter had more power within their family than George did, and it resulted in the death of the latter. They feel as though they cannot go on in life when their parents try to take away what they rely on so much. A reason Peter might be more angry with their parents is because he is supposedly the smart one who likes to take control while his sister is the one who follows his lead. This might be because the children have spent so much time around animals and lions in the veldt that they have adopted some of their characteristics. For example, the male lion is usually the more dominant in the pride and usually more intimidating. Growing up around technology can hurt the growing minds of children because it can create a habit of laziness and can often replace human connections. This is what happened with the Hadley children.

The first mistake that George and Lydia made was buying the house with advanced technology. Buying a technology filled house, at some point, is going to lead to chaos and it did. The children became dependent on the technology causing them to have the power to rebel against their parents. For instance, when Peter and Wendy return home, George and Lydia tell them to not go into the nursery. However, Peter told Wendy to go and she listened to her brother rather than her parents.

George and Lydia have little to no control over Peter and Wendy, which is shown when Peter says "I don’t think you’d better consider [turning the whole house off] any more, Father", and George feels threatened and tells him not to act like that anymore (page 9). After that, Peter just walks away not scared or ashamed, but rather defiantly as if he is already planning to threaten him again. I feel a parent should have a decent amount of control over their child because they let them have some freedom but they raise them to not be so hyper or disrespectful.
