Title IX is significant in education, and it is no different at two-year technical colleges. These institutions may lack student housing,fraternities/sororities, and sports teams, but violations can still occur. This presentation is to educate faculty and staff at Texas State Technical College about Title IX and the reporting process. The 10 campus system only has 4 locations with dorms, no official sports teams, and a majority of the students are male (TEXAS STATE TECHNICAL COLLEGE SYSTEM Enrollment Demographics of Semester Credit Hour Students, 2017).

Title IX is important to Texas State Technical College for numerous reasons. The first reason is related to student, employee, and visitor safety. Griselda Sanchez, Coordinator of Transition Services, says Title IX “impacts student's lives at any college” (2020). Safety is a main priority regardless if the institution is a community college or four-year institution. The second reason is because Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally funded programs, events, and institutions. Violations could have a major influence on the future of an institution.

Some best practices include:

·Training: It is important to train students and employees about prevention. Training should also be provided about how to report and the process involved with it,

·Policy: The official law verbiage can be intimating, but employees and students need to understand policy.

·Resources: Institutions should build a community of resources to provide students the best service to assist them in time of crisis.

Title IX is constantly being reviewed and updated. Case impact the law and the way it is applied at the college level, so it is crucial for college representatives stay updated and educated.

Griselda Sanchez, Coordinator of Transition Services (Former Director of Student Services)
https://www.tstc.edu/student_life/titleix

The report indicated the institutions with the lower enrollment numbers offered a wider range of support services for students. However, it also stated that only 6% of the respondents were public, 2-year, which is where TSTC falls (Henkle, Dunlap & Tabachnick, 2020).

Personal and Ethical Foundations is the most fitting of the ten National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) standards because of the two of the three sub-categories: Ethical Codes and Professional Standards and Self-Assessment and Reflection (ACPA College Student Educators International, 2006). Knowing when and how to report Title IX violations should be black and white, but there is a battle between what is right and wrong, what the institution may want/need, and what the victim wants/need. Employees and reporters need to know and understand their own personal ethics and values in order to make the right decisions.
