This event causes other events to happen and it moves the story forward. When Kira’s mother passes away she is the only one left in her family. Her being the only one causes Vandara and other members of the town to take advantage of her. The setting of this event was the field and Kira’s land. This setting was important because the land is the place that Kira has all of her things. The other setting was the field and that is where the beasts are at night. This setting sets a lonely mood. Kira is the only one left in her family and she has to fend for herself because of her mother's passing.

The necklace reminded her of her parents because the necklace was a gift for the mother from the father. Kira was thankful because of Matt’s bravery. The setting was at the stairs of the Council of Edifice. This setting was joyful because of Matt saving some of the items from the cott.

After the trial, Kira was set free but she was allowed to stay at the Council Edifice because of her talent. The people in the Council Edifice provided Kira with what she needs to survive (food, water, clothes, etc.). The only cost of her staying there was she needed to fulfill the singer’s robe and complete it. Before this event happened, Kira had a very difficult life where she had to fend for herself. She had to grow her own food because her life depended on it. The setting of this event was in the Council Edifice. This created a mood of happiness yet lonely at the same time. Kira moves in and she is happy because she is alive and can live her life doing something she loves. Yet, she is lonely because she feels that she doesn't really have anyone anymore.

This also causes Kira to want to find out the truth about what was really happening in the Council Edifice. Lastly this may make Kira not trust the people that’s trying to help her. The setting was important because where they were gives the event more suspense.

It causes a change in the plot by making Kira want to find out what's really going on. When they find Jo and they see how harsh Jamison was to her which causes her to cry, which changes the way Kira looks at Jamison because she had questions about what was happening to Jo, and why was she separate from the others. When they find Jo crying can make Kira think that there’s something more important happening in the council of edifice.

Right after Annabella told Kira about how there were no beasts, Annabella was put in the field the next day. It was almost like she revealed a dark secret. This was an unexpected change in the plot because most readers did not expect Annabella talking to Kira about the beasts, to turn into Annabella being put into the field for the “beasts.” The setting of this event was in the town and the field. This setting was important because Kira saw the draggers taking her to the field for the beasts. This created a sad and gloomy mood.

They say that they will be there for Jo and that develops a friendship between them. The setting of this event was in Jo’s room. The setting of this event was significant because it shows that they are sneaking to Jo’s room to check on her which displays a strong friendship. It creates a very secretive mood.

This event also changes the plot because without him being there Kira would still have believed every word that Jamison says and wouldn’t know that Jamison attempted to get rid of her father. The setting was in Kira's room in the Council Edifice. The setting is important because it adds suspense to the event because is Jamison would have walked in there he would be surprised and worried that he would expose the council.

This event changes the characters relationships and reveals something we did not already know.  When Kira’s father arrived back at the village Kira lives at, he revealed that Jamison tried to kill him while they were on a hunt. Jamison was jealous of the “power” Christopher had. Kira also figures out that Jamison probably poisoned her mother to be able to have Kira’s talent for his own benefit. This event gives the reader and Kira information that they already did not know about the story. The setting was Kira’s room in the Council Edifice. Kira’s father was snuck into the room. This setting is important because she learns her father’s story. This setting creates a secretive and serious mood.

This event reveals something that we didn’t know. The Singer was forced to do all the things that the Council forced him to do. The Council has all the power and because of that they can treat people as slaves. The Council stole the creative abilities that Kira, Thomas, and Jo has. Kira realized that Jo has to wear the chains next after the current singer. Then after Jo the next Singer has wear then the next then the next. We now know that the Singer is forced to do their jobs. They were forced to learn songs  and were forced to perform for the Gathering. The setting was in  the Council Edifice. The mood of the setting was cheerful and horrified. The setting was cheerful because of the Gathering and the Song, but Kira was horrified because of the chains around the Singer’s ankles.
