3R stands for reuse, reduce and recycle respectively.

1. Reuse: reuse again the old stuff that still can be use instead of throwing or buy a new one
Example: reuse the plastic bag when shopping
2. Reduce: lower the amount of usage than usual so that we can reduce waste, and utilize things fully
Example: reduce the use of styrofoam food container
3. Recycle: collect the waste materials that can be transform to new form of product so that we can secure the natural resources
Example: recycle aluminium tin cans and old newspaper

3R is currently practice in Malaysia. There are few states that even enforce law in restrict the use of non-renewable resources. For example, Selangor encourage the practice of plastic bag free in shopping mall, if you need a plastic bag you need to pay 20 cents. The same goes to the polystyrene especially styrofoam food container, were also ban in Selangor. Moreover, rubbish separation rule, which households are mandatory to separate solid waste at source beginning 1 SEPTEMBER 2015 has implement in stages in Malaysia under the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007. This shows that Malaysians are increasing their awareness in the practice of 3R in daily life.

REDUCE is where we purchase product that require less packaging. REUSE is for example we use travel mug or reusable water bottle and avoid single-use bags. lastly is RECYCLE where it needs paper,plastic magazines and more can be processed into new products. using fewer natural resources and less energy needed.

2. Recycle means collect all the recyclable materials and process it through some chemical processes to make some new products. By doing this, we wont keep on exploiting more and more limited resources from our mother earth.

For example, we can recycle newspaper, aluminium tins and others.

3. Reduce means reduce the usage of non-renewable resources so that they will not be depleted in the near future. For example, we can reduce our usage on aluminium tins by replacing it with paper or plastic so that aluminium will not depleted so early.

Ok, bagi menjawab pertanyaan puvan mengenai amalan 3R di Malaysia, menurut kenyataan yang dikeluarkan oleh SWCorp Malaysia (Solid waste Corporation Malaysia) Malaysia mengamalkan amalan 3R namun masih berada di peringkat awal memandangkan kurang mendapat sokongan rakyat, perbezaan amalan budaya kebersihan dan infrastruktur yang disediakan kerajaan masih belum dapat melengkapi keperluan pengurusan sisa pepejal. 3R rasanya kurang diamalkan di UPMKB walaupun Kampusnya hijau dan bersih. Hal ini kerana, kita tidak nampak 3 jenis tong sampah kitar semula di sekitar UPMKB. Semua sampah dibuang di tong sampah biasa dan dilupuskan begitu sahaja di tapak pelupusan sampah.

3R sememangnya diamalkan di UPMKB. tetapi, kurangnya kesedaran dalam kalangan pelajar terhadap pentingnya amalan kitar semula menyebabkan kempen kitar semula di UPMKB tidak mendapat sambutan. tong sampah kitar semula yang disediakan disalah gunakan oleh para pelajar. pelajar membuang sampah yang tidak berkenaan ke dalam tong sampah tersebut. contohnya, sisa makanan yang boleh menyebabkan tong sampah menjadi kotor dan berbau busuk. kempen kitar semula patut dihidupkan semula bagi menjadikan UPMKB sebuah kampus hijau yang bersih dan selesa.

We can see there is some recycle bin in park, school, institution and etc. The most common recycle bin that we can see in Malaysia is brown colour (for glass), blue colour (for paper), and orange colour (for plastic). There are some places that have recycle bin to collect unwanted clothes.

Yes, we did practiced 3R in UPMKB. We can see recycle bins in this campus. Apart from that, if we order foods from catering with huge amount, the staff from catering will request to use the plastic container that can be reused. Once we finished the meals, we can return the containers to the catering and they will collect and reuse it. Besides, recently we are going to have 3R practice in our dormitory and we will collect all the plastic bottles from students.

Reduce (Kurangkan)
-merujuk kepada pengurangan kuantiti sisa yang dijana di punca, dengan mengurangkan jumlah produk dan jenis produk yang digunakan. Ia juga merujuk kepada pengurangan penggunaan sumber semula jadi. Ini bermakna kita perlu memberi perhatian kepada barang-barang yang dibeli, dihasilkan dan dibuang.

Reuse (Guna Semula)
-merujuk kepada penggunaan semula barangan berulang kali, dan dengan berbuat demikian penjanaan sisa dan pembuagannya dapat dikurangkan.

Recycle (Kitar Semula)
-"Re" merujuk kepada "untuk melakukan sekali lagi" dan "cycle" merujuk "pusingan". Oleh yang demikian, "Kitar Semula" merujuk kepada meletakkan sesuatu dalam kitaran. Kita mengitar semula dengan mengasingkan sisa, dan kemudian menyalurkannya kepada organisasi atau kilang-kilang yang memprosesnya semula supaya menjadi produk baru untuk kegunaan kita.
