With hyperinflation growing more severe every day due to the government printing more money, the German government seeks a viable solution. Agricultural minister Hans Luther proposed a plan, which was to substitute the gold for rye. This was accepted, and Hans Luther was given charge of a new bank, the Retenbank. Soon later, in November, the Rentenmarks replaced the now worthless paper currency, stabling the economy to some extent. Later changes would come down the line.

Hitler, who is now the chairman of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, or NSDAP, decides the time is right to stage a coup. With the help of locals and a former WW1 leader, Erich Ludendorff, he stages the Beer Hall Putsch. This ultimately fails, and Hitler is sent to a trial. Hitler uses this trial to voice his ideas. In other words, this trial made him even more popular and widely known. He is given a five month prison sentence.

In this time period, Hitler's popularity skyrocketed. In March 13, he comes in second in the presidential elections. On April 10, Hidenburg defeats Hitler, and prevents him from becoming president. Soon after, the SA, the Nazi's first paramilitary wing, along with other groups, is banned from marching. However, Brüning is forced to resign, and Hidenburg is considering replacements for Chancellor. Along with the resignation, the SA ban is also revoked. The NSDAP, which Hitler is in charge of, becomes the largest party. Likewise, Hermann Göring, a long Nazi, becomes president of the Reichstag. On the while, Hitler is offered more government options, which he all turns down, as he only wants the Chancellor position. Hidenburg appoints Kurt Von Schleicher as chancellor.
