The carbohydrates produced by photosynthesis are used for vegetative and reproductive <strong>growth</strong> and to increase crop biomass. Because solar energy is needed for photosynthesis, it only occurs during <strong>daylight</strong>.<br><br>•Leaves: The main function of a leaf is to produce food for the plant by <strong>photosynthesis</strong>.<br>•Roots: The roots of seed plants have three major functions: anchoring the plant to the soil, absorbing <strong>water</strong> and minerals and transporting them upwards, and storing the products of photosynthesis.<br>•Flower: The primary <strong>purpose</strong> of a flower is <strong>reproduction</strong>. <br> •Fruit: all <strong>function</strong> in protecting the seeds inside and in aiding seed dispersal.<br>•Seeds: nourishment of the embryo, dispersal to a new location, and dormancy during unfavorable conditions.<br>•Stem: The stem of the plant connects the <strong>roots</strong> to the <strong>leaves</strong>, helping to <strong>transport</strong> absorbed water and minerals to different parts of the plant. </div>]]></description>
