1. I expect our government to be transparent to the public about the majority of what they do. It feels strange to me that there is a wealth of information that we as the public are unaware of. I also expect government officials to act as public servants, because I think truly morally-good people that work in the government should have the goal to help other people however they can.
3. I'm fascinated by current events/politics. Although politics can be stressful and disappointing for me because the parties don't work well together, I enjoy talking about and seeing good come from them. Voting in my first primary election was so exciting because I felt like I was becoming an active member of my community. I also try to attend marches of events I care about, such as the gun control rally. The only events that don't pique my interest are economics and sports, mostly because I have trouble understanding them.

I immensely enjoyed the NPR piece, as I'm impressed by both of these women and how they were able to put their differences aside in order to fight for equality for women. Today, it seems so difficult to forget parties/views in order to actually get work done in this country, so I think that's amazing for them to do. I admire Ruth Bader Ginsberg the most due to her legal prowess and capability to work slowly but leave few gaps in what she does legally.

My favorite part of the Declaration of Independence is when the writing goes in on the King during the Grievances section. They explicitly state every problem they have with him in a powerful manner, and it's a good section that I respect.
I prefer to hear the Declaration spoken, because it sounds better than something I would hear in my own head. It's helpful to have it read to me because if I read it myself, I tend to get overwhelmed or bored and I can drift off, read the sentence over and over again, and gain nothing from it.
