Thomas attended school, until he failed out at age 12.  In 1768, Thomas began his work as an excise officer.  While he was there, he wrote his first pamphlet.  He was born in Norfolk, and then he moved to London.  There, he met Benjamin Franklin, and Franklin helped him move to Philadelphia.  He became well known and very important while he stayed in Philadelphia.  Later in life, he moved back to Europe to pursue some dreams of his.  That included working on an iron bridge and a smokeless candle. That's when he realized that we should demand independence from England, so he started speaking out about his ideas. Many people though he was insane before, but now, we have a free country. Common Sense was had many of the same ideas that gave us the declaration of Independence.
