A few hours after I was born, I was taken to the N.I.C.U. for several days. Due to being born prematurely, my lungs were not fully developed and I wasn't breathing. But I pulled through and here we are over 20 years later. This is my older sister, Emily, meeting me for the first time. My parents moved to the United States in the early 90s from the United Kingdom to advance in their respected careers. They gave us a quiet life in Arkansas, with occasional visits back to the U.K. to visit family. My first year at the University of Arkansas was completely remote due to the pandemic, which made it very difficult to be social, a large part of your freshman year. Since then, however, it seems every semester has been better than the one before it.
