STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM 

There are various prevalent issues and challenges that one would face being an illegitimate child in the world today including its psychological, social, intellectual, and even financial aspects which are vital to a child’s developmental growth but one of them stood out to the researchers and piqued their interest the most. It is about the academic performances of these labeled children. This study intends to quantify the factors of illegitimate children (IC) studying in La Salle University (LSU) - Ozamiz City under the Basic Education Unit and its effects on their academic performance. The study seeks to answer the following questions:

1. How can being an illegitimate child affect academic performance by the following factors:

1. inspiration;

2. motivation;

3. love; 

4. comfort and;

5. basic needs.
