I understand that young adolescents are changing physically and emotionally, so in order to accommodate for these changes, students should be encouraged to explore their identity through advisories, exploratory curriculum, problem-based learning, and integrated curriculum. I feel that homework should not be used as another grade in the gradebook without the ability to learn from it. I believe homework should be a form of assessment to see what students have learned or retained. If students do poorly on an assignment, it won't be used as a low grade, but rather as a way to create differentiated groups to reteach a misconception.
