This shows some of our students actively engages in service learning in Malaysia. Evident is intercultural understanding as well as reciprocity. Its interesting to consider who has gained most from this experience and also how it has impacted both groups of students a year on. IMAGE: A few years back, I had to leave school in the middle of the day to take my mother to chemo appointments. When my students found out why I was leaving, they approached the principal to get approval for a fundraiser to help cover my mother's bills. I was not aware of what was going until students, I didn't know, started giving me money to "buy a t-shirt". I was very proud that my mother and I could motivate students to initiate this event. Side note: Many of the students had worked with my mom at a local animal rescue non-profit shelter.

That's a lovely story and image!. It highlights the empathy you must have with your students. I hope that the therapy worked for her.

I like the inclusion of self-directed here, that is always an important motivational factor in learning.
The inclusion of depth is also important as it implies greater engagement with an exercise.

I came up with curiosity and problem solving. Curiosity is the first condition for learning, doing, looking for the best solution, etc., and problem solving.
