The United States is a country where you can live the American Dream. The American Dream is the idea that every citizen of the United States should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. A lot of immigrants come to the United States to become citizens and have a different life with more opportunities. There are a lot of different American Dreams. Some American Dreams are having a better education, better job, can have their own house, their dream cars, having their perfect future, etc. My American Dream is to work for the FBI, have my own house, have my dream car, have good health, have my own family and provide them whatever they want to.

I decided to interview my mom who had grown up in Argentina and come to the United States for a better future. When I asked my mom what her American Dream is, she told me that her principal American Dream is the best future possible for her and her family. I asked my mom if her answer was influence for her parents or if that is her actual American dream, and she told me that is something that is passing through the generations because all parents wants the best for their families and their sons. Then I asked my mom if she achieved her American Dream, and she told me that she achieved her principal American Dream because she have an amazing family, is happy and she can give to her sons everything they want to, but she still have some dreams to achieve. The last question that I did to my mom was what she advised me to achieve my American Dream, and she told me that I never have to give up and I have to work hard for what I really want to get.

The Rose that Grew from Concrete

The poem that I decided to read and talk about was The Rose that Grew from Concrete by Tupac. This poem tries to transmit that it doesn't matter where you grew up or where you come from, the only thing that matters is where you are going, or what you want to be. The poet explains this point of view when he said, " Long live the rose that grew from concrete, When no one cares ¨, and with this, he also means that you should care for yourself because no one care where you are from, or where you going. Tupac is also trying to transmit to his audience that you should work hard for your goals, you don't have any excuses for getting what you want for your future. Tupac uses a rose as representation of a person because he uses a rose that grew up from concrete meaning a person who grew up from nothing and got everything.

Reyna Grande is a person who has passed through a lot of things since she was young. In the chapter 24, I think that she makes her American Dream when Eric, the friend of her father told her that her dad was very proud of her and he is really proud on what she is going to be in the future. Reyna always wanted to make her dad proud, and she got it when she got into the university. She also is living the American Dream because she leaves everything in the past and now she is living a life that she chooses and enjoys. She grew up with nothing and now she is a talented writer. This is related with The Rose that Grew from Concrete because she didn't have anything and now she is very famous.

American Dream Clip

This video clip defends my thesis that the American Dream is alive and well because he is trying to explain that if you cant achieve your dreams, you have to keep going and don't give up. We need to understand that the American people are not each other enemies, we should help everyone to get their American Dream and the real enemies are those who are trying to make us think that we hate each other. We should stop competing with other people about who has the better car, the better house, who has more money, or compete for things that make no sense. You should focus on yourself and your family and try to achieve your goals without competing with someone. Dr. Ben Carson explains that the American Dream is more alive than never, but you have to work hard for it.

“The American Dream”-Chicago

The song I chose was The American Dream by Chicago. This song starts telling us that Rome wasn't built in just one day, and with this, the song means that you have to build your future and take your time for it because you won't be able to do it in one day. This song also talks about who cares about what we have gone through, who can we truly believe, who understands, and who cares about what we need. Chicano tries to transmit that you should care and believe in you because no one is going to care or believe in you.
