She emphasizes the importance and the pros of speaking multiple languages. One post in particle list 7 things she has learned in 26 years of learning multiple languages. Her findings are not just uplifting and encouraging but they are real. Her first finding is that there is an "increase in confidence is your biggest advantage." This one is definitely a pro because you are not only gaining confidence but also knowledge to better yourself and your community. She describes this journey to learn something new and exciting but in particular, as number 5 said, miracles won't happen. "Even if I can chat in 4 languages, that does not mean I will pick up any other one quickly and easily. Staying humble wont hurt." She describes the realness of learning languages and their impact not only on others but ones self.

Some of the benefits are the higher density of the grey matter that contains most of your brain's neurons and synapses. Another benefit is that being multilingual can lessen the chance of diseases like Alzheimer's and dementia by five years. In addition, the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex plays a huge part in the brain that involves executive function, problem-solving, and switching from one task to another. The pros can range from increased brain function; to increased problem-solving abilities and switching from one task to another. Other pros are, confidence boosting, helping educate students, and assisting their needs. But as there are pros there are cons. Becoming multilingual is not easy and takes a lot of time and commitment to learning languages. In addition, being multilingual can mean mixing up a language when speaking to others and causing judgment. She writes about how she is fortunate enough to speak three different languages and how that aided her throughout her years in Canada. She also lists the advantages and disadvantages she faced due to being multilingual. Some advantages are, "international students who speak multiple languages can grasp a different language easily because they have learned multiple languages throughout their life." She also states that it was fairly easy to make new friends due to no language barrier. One disadvantage she states is, "the student is fluent in a language other than her native language, the community might look down on the student’s use of another language. This can cause the student to disconnect from her native community."
