This nothingness was known as Chaos, from this nothing came three immortal beings. Their names were Gaea, the Earth, Tartarus, the dark underworld, and Eros, the spirit of love.

Zeus takes control of Mt. Olympus

After an intense battle between the Olympians and the Titans where Gaeas earliest children were set free, Zeus emerged victorious. Zeus went on to marry Hera, another Olympian, and they had many children together as they ruled Olympus.

Gaea gives birth to her children

With no partner, Gaea gave birth to Uranus, the evening sky, Ourea, mountains, and Pontus, the sea. She married Uranus, and gave birth to two sets of triplets, the Hundred Handed Giants, and the Cyclopes.

Uranus threw his children into Tartarus

Uranus feared his children and their strength, so he threw them into Tartarus. He was afraid that their strength was no match to his and made a decision the Gaea didn't like, she plotted to get her revenge at some point.

Gaea gives birth to the 12 Titans

Gaea and Uranus had 12 more children which became the oldest generation of Greek gods known as the Titans. Uranus was satisfied with these children and did not throw them into Tartarus.

Kronos married Rhea

Two of Gaea and Uranus' children were Kronos and Rhea. Kronos and Rhea ended up getting married themselves.

Gaea takes action against her husband

Once the Titans were of age, Gaea asked them if any would be willing to take down their father. Most of the children were scared of this idea, however, Kronos was willing to take on the challenge.

Gaea issued a prophecy that Kronos would be taken over by his own children

Kronos was able to take down his father, and when his mother asked for her other sons to be taken out of Tartarus, he refused. She then prophesized that one day Kronos's children would overthrow him.

Kronos ate each child as Rhea brought them to him

Eventually, Kronos had children, they were known as the Olympians. As each child was born, Rhea brought the baby to Kronos to meet their father. As he took each child, he swalloed them whole so they could never overtake him.

Zeus takes action against his father

After Kronos ate many of Rheas children, she grew smarter and came up with a plan to save Zeus, she gave Kronos a rock to eat and set Zeus free to grow up. When he was of age he, his grandmother Gaea, and his mother Rhea took action and got Kronos to spit out all the Olympians.
