The weather service said the Smith Shoal Light station recorded a 74 mph wind gust on Saturday night, the Associated Press reported.

Meanwhile, the center of Irma was headed toward the Keys with sustained winds of 120 mph.

Irma, which hit Florida as a category four hurricane on Sunday, has since been downgraded to a tropical storm.

Analysts have cut their estimates of the total cost, but still, expect it to run to tens of billions of dollars.

-  Sea level is rising at about 0.14 inches yearly. This may be caused by thermal expansion and warming of the ocean due to various human disturbances such as oil drilling, deforestation, and coal/oil burning. As the water heats up, it expands. These disturbances have increased heat trapping gasses, causing the planet to warm up. 

-  Sea surface temperatures have risen around 0.5C more, making the sea surface temperature in the region increase from 30.5C to 31C. 

-  For every 0.5C of warming, there is around a 3% increase in moisture in the air. As the sea surface temperature in the region rose 0.5C more, there was 3-5% more moisture in the air, which may have intensified the hurricane. This also may have increased the potential for much more severe rainfall and flooding.

The Dominican Republic gave them emergency water and medical supplies including heavy machinery in order to search through the demolished rubble and buildings to find and rescue. Medical groups also helped Haiti by beginning to aid the injured. Non-permanent field hospitals were set up to help by the Red Cross organisation.Overall, this natural disaster was a catastrophic earthquake that ended many lives and was one we cannot unsee.
