<title>Hi there, my name is Lizzie the lasagna. I have meat, cheese and a noodles, which is protein, lipids and carbohydrates. In that exact order actually. Today, I am going to talk to you about something that I have been waiting to happen for what seems like my whole life, I am going to be digested. Sounds like an odd thing to be excited for but I have been looking forward to this all day! This process is divided into four stages or steps and I am going to be telling you about these as I am experiencing them. Ready? Let&#39;s go! </title>

<title>The first step of ingestion is entering the mouth. As I enter the mouth I can see the tongue and all the teeth. The teeth quickly break up all my parts into smaller pieces, using the different types of teeth. The incisors and canines for grabbing and cutting and the molars and premolars for grinding and crushing. </title>

<title>The smell of me in the mouth initiated the salivary glands to secrete saliva. This saliva contains enzymes and one of those enzymes are called amylase and that breaks down starch that is present in my noodles. The saliva also dissolves my particles and actually allows the host to taste me and all my good spices and the different parts of me. But the saliva also contains mucus which is a protective secretion that is a lubricant which helps in swallowing. The tongue then pushes me into the pharynx. </title>

<title>The next section is the stomach. It&#39;s a J-shaped organ that continues the digestion that was started at the beginning stage of ingestion. The stomach has four layers and the first layer one is called mucosa and this layer produces gastric juice. Gastric juice is a mixture of digestive enzymes, acid and mucus. The next layer that I enter is the sub mucosa which is a layer of connective tissues and it contains a network of nerves and blood vessels. The third layer is called the muscularis and it is a layer of smooth muscles; these muscles contract very often and they start churning and mixing me up, and I am currently mixed with gastric juice and I am a semi-liquid that is called chyme. The last layer of the stomach, the serosa, actually holds the stomach in place and produces lubricating fluids that ensures there is no friction between organs. </title>

<title>The next section that I enter is the small intestine but specifically the duodenum which is the first section of the small intestine. A lot of enzymes are added here and then I move on to the next section which is the jejunum and some nutrients are absorbed here. It is hard to tell if I am still in the jejunum or the ileum which is the last part of the small intestine. In this section, a lot of my nutrients are absorbed. </title>

<title>Before I enter the first section of the small intestine, I go through the pancreas. This is long and flat and it seems to be secreting some sort of enzyme. It also secretes hormones called cholecystokinin (CCK) and this is released into the bloodstream. The pancreas also releases trypsinogen, which is an inactive from of trypsin and this travels from the pancreas to the duodenum and once it reaches there, an enzyme called enterokinase converts it into active trypsin. </title>
