         <description><![CDATA[<div>Millions of African Americans were stolen from their homes to become a slave, making up more that 10% of the United States population.<br><br>Frederick Douglass, a former slave and abolitionist, wrote a book in 1845 describing the horrors of slavery, and what he had to experience as a slave, to show his audience the negative impact of slavery on everyone..<br><br>Along with the use of figurative language and descriptive wording, Douglass uses his personal experiences to reveal  the effects of slavery on slaveowners, which supports his position to abolish slavery.</div>]]></description>
