For my mirror book I chose Hatchet by Gray Paulson because its about a boy named Brian Robeson who's parents have separated and I can relate to that because my parents are in the earlier stages of being separated and soon I will have to go from house to house just like Brian. He was on his way to see his dad and then it all happened……

For my window book i am going to chose The modern retelling of Little Women by Rey Terciero and Bre Indigo. I find it a great window book because their father is away in the military and there mother is a doctor that works long hours and I feel like its something that so many people can relate to more than you think. It shows the hardships people in that situation go through so you can really be put in there shoes.

This is a window book for me because it explores the idea that without any established order, initial innocence can quickly turn into brutality. I can’t directly relate to the story but I found that peer pressure can make children make very stupid decisions, which I found to be quite true in this day and age.

The book also functions on the fundamental ideal of “survival of the strongest” after they go from civilized English students to uncivilized island savages.
I enjoy the books with these kinds of ideologies and deeper meaning, which is why I chose this book.

One mirror book I have read is (like many have stated) is hatchet. like many have again stated, my parents went through a divorce, though it was not a tough one. they are still friends. though my dad lives on the other side of the world so yeah. I sometimes visit him (in plane too!)

One window book I have read is called ¨Allies¨

It is 6 stories, all happening on June 6th, 1944 (my history people know what happens on that day).

There are 6, like I said, so im gonna copy and paste an article on the book plot:

ARTICLE ON THE BOOK:
the six stories named after real d day operations:

Operation Neptune – Dee

Sid and Dee arrive at Omaha Beach. As soon as the door to the Higgins boat opens, German machine guns blast the soldiers. When Dee gets out of the boat, he realizes they are in deep water. Sergeant Taylor yells for help because he can’t swim. Dee goes to help him. By the time the two reach shore, Taylor has died from a gunshot wound in Dee’s arms…

Operation Tortoise – Samari

Samira and her mother, Kenza, leave the house after curfew to deliver a coded message to a rural guerrilla band of French Resistance fighters, the Maquis. When they spot German soldiers arresting French villagers from their homes, Kenza rushes to help. Kenza sends Samira to quiet the barking dog, so they won’t be caught. Kenza is arrested with the others. Samira barely escapes by hiding in the doghouse. So, just how can she help her mother escape?

Operation Tonga – James

James rides in the airplane with the other paratroopers from Canada several hours before the foot soldiers arrive on the beaches of Normandy. After landing in Normandy, James realizes he is seven miles away from his mission…

Operation Amiens – Bill

Bill crosses the English Channel with three tank crews. When the boat reaches the shore, one tank Coventry’s Revenge is hit by a big gun and explodes. Achilles makes it through the surf, but Valiant becomes stuck. A distance up the beach, a German 88 fires at Achilles disabling the treads and creating a large crater in front of the tank…

Operation Integration – Henry

Henry comes to Omaha Beach with the all-black 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion. Their mission is to raise balloons after the beach invasion is over. The balloons are damaged in transport, so the battalion decides to help in the invasion wherever they can. This leaves Henry, a medic, to help the wounded men on the beach. Henry sets up a lean-to clinic and gets to work…

Operation Bathing Suit – Monique

Thirteen-year-old Monique spends twelve hours hiding out in a small beach hut while gunfire and explosions take place on the nearby beach. She had been swimming the day before and left her swimsuit in the beach hut. Monique had returned to get it just as the battle on the beach started. Monique spends the day singing to drown out the sounds of fighting.

When Monique comes out of the safety of the beach hut at eight o’clock that night, she hears a man calling out for help. Monique knells by a wounded soldier and diagnoses that he is in shock…

yeah there is a lot. for those who like action, I would 100% recommend this book.

I think that Wonder is a window book because august is born with a face disorder. This causes him to be bullied and switches around many schools. Slowly but surely, he begins making friends. I have never been bullied in school and I see a whole new perspective in this story.

I think that Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians is a mirror book. At the start of the book everything goes wrong for Alcatraz even though he doesn't mean to make a mistake just like what happened to me.

It is about 2 brothers in Dada, a refugee camp in Kenya. Life is hard there: never enough food, achingly dull, and without access to the medical care Omar's nonverbal brother needs. So when Omar has the opportunity to go to school, he knows it might be a chance to change their future...but it would also mean leaving his brother, his only remaining family member, every day.

Window: My window book is called Bud, not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. This book is a window book for me because I've never experienced loss before. Also, because I am not an orphan. This book is about a 10-year-old boy named Bud getting adopted by his new family the Amoses (his third foster family). It is also about how bud's new stepbrother bullied him constantly creating a bad environment for bud.

Mirror: My mirror book is called Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I believe that this is a mirror book to all especially for myself because who doesn't love playing video games in a utopia world? This book takes place in the year 2044 and is about a teenage boy named Wade Watts. The only time he feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia world. Throughout the book Wade studies puzzles and gets new clues that help him toward the three keys that you get when you finish the whole entire game.
- The book is way much more interesting than the explanation I just gave.

other.
--------------------------------------------------------------Mirror book:
I am currently reading the book "Asha and the Spirit Bird" by Jasbinder Bilan. This book is about Asha. An eleven-year-old girl who lives in the Himalayas with her mother and her younger siblings. Her father works in the city and sends them money he gets from his job. And when he stops sending the money, Meena a moneylender steals and causes damage to Asha's house. Then Asha makes a promise/pact with Jeevan(Asha's best friend) to find her father and to fix everything. But it isn't easy. Asha and Jeevan face many challenges. This book shows you how to conquer some of the greatest obstacles.
This book is a mirror book for me. The reason for that is, that I've once had to take down/conquer obstacles of my life.
-----------------------------------------
Window book:
I have read the book, Wonder(By R.J. Palacio). It's not the book I'm reading right now but it is a window book to me. Here is what it is about: Meet Auggie Pullman a 10-year-old who loves his dog Daisy, his Xbox, and is a HUGE fan of star wars. Auggie has a facial condition and he has had 27 surgeries. Auggie has been homeschooled for his whole life because of this condition(his parents thought he would get bullied)- well up until now. Auggie starts 5th grade at Beecher prep. All that Auggie wants is for everyone to ignore his face and treat him like a normal kid. Auggie gets bullied by his classmates because they can't get by Auggie's extraordinary face.
This is a window book for me because I don't have a facial condition like how Auggie does, and I saw a different perspective while I read this book.

My Window book is an amazing novel called "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time". It is about a genius boy named Christopher who lives in England who has a very bad form of autism. One day, Christopher mysteriously finds his neighbors dog dead in their backyard. Christopher decides to try to figure out the mystery, and it is very interesting to read. This book was recommended by my mom and sister, and it is not very appropriate for our grade, but most people should read it in 8th grade or high school.

My mirror book is a read aloud book we read in class called "Front Desk". It is my mirror book because it explains how the main character, Mia Tang, had to immigrate to America from a faraway country, just like me.

Window book: I am number four by Pittacus Lore. It is a book about 9 alien kids who are being hunted by other aliens. They are basically the last of their kind and are trying to survive on earth and blend in until they are older and get their powers. This book is a mirror book for me because it is about trying to fit in to everyone else and I don’t really try to be like others, because I am my own person.

Mirror book: Bastille versus the evil librarians (Alcatraz 6). In this book Bastille gets to become an oculator (What she always wanted) but only for a few minutes. This book is a window book for me because it often happens that I succeed and something and the realize that I didn’t actually succeed (like that I think I made something pretty but then I look too hard and it’s ugly).

Window Book: Esperanza Rising is my mirror book because what the protagonist goes through throughout the story, Esperanza, is a tough work life. Her family lived in a big house, living out their life being rich. Then, something happens (no spoilers) and they have to live out a tough, minimal pay life on a farm struggling to keep themself stable.

The window book I am currently reading is Asha and the Spirit bird. It is a window for me because Asha has a different culture than me. She worships Hindu gods like Shiva and the book uses many Hindu words that I don’t know. Asha is going on a quest to find her father, who has mysteriously disappeared.

The mirror book I just finished reading is Percy Jackson, the Lightning Thief. It’s a mirror book for me because Percy only has a few friends (one singular friend, Grover). There’s also another reason I consider it a mirror book, but since we’re going to read it in class, I don’t want to spoil anything.

~One mirror book that I have read is EVERY SOUL A STAR. It is a mirror book to me because one of the characters Bree, doesn't want to leave her friends and her life at her old home and move. I felt this way when I first started 6th grade and BSI. Now, this book is a mirror book.

~One window book that I have read is BLENDED. It is a window book because the main character, Isabella, is mixed race and has divorced parents. She doesn't know if she belongs with her white mom in a small house, or her black dad in a huge mansion.

The outsiders is my mirror book because it really shows what life was like back in the 60's. The outsiders is a book based on a kid named Ponyboy and what his life was like being in a gang called the greasers. The greasers were known as the poor run down gang and there rivals the Socs were known as the rich gang. The story is about the adventures that Ponyboy had and it shows a new window to the past.

My mirror book is Esperanza rising because my parents were immigrants and came to America to start a new life.

Prairie Lotus is about a girl named Hanna, who is trying to revive one thing-education. She has dreams of becoming a dressmaker in her father's shop. She's biracial; asian and white. She also happens to move into a new place, where people are prejudiced against Chinese people. Hanna wants to revive an education, but it's hard when your dad wants you out of people's sight, so people wont be talking, your mom is dead and you live in a place where people aren't that nice to you because of your race. This book is about Hanna adjusting to her new life and achieving what's rightfully hers-education.

Mirror book: I am number four, by Pittacus Lore. Although I am currently reading it, it can relate to me as they try to hide or camouflage within the crowds of people so that hunters, don't find him or suspect that he is one of the different people. This is similar as it reminds me of everytime I move to a new school it's hard to make friends, and fit in.

Window book: Hidden Figures, Margot Lee Shetterly. This book I read during my younger ages with my mother, this book really inspired me about how anybody can make a change no matter what, and how powerful you can be no matter if you have a disability, or are different. Some books that have taught me from other people opinions are Wonder, Rick, Etc.
