         <description><![CDATA[<div>"No Saviors" - The book talked about the idea of teachers coming into the hood and essentially "Saving" the students from the tough neighborhood or other circumstances. We believe kicking the Savior Complex and seeing the students for who they are, kids. We need to work to not label or put our students into boxes just for where they live or the color of their skin.&nbsp;<br><br>Understanding Empathy - Knowing that we can relate to our students because we have been students like them. But also knowing the world they are growing up in is different from when we were in school or their community is different from where we grew up.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
