The outfits are slightly unconventional for the band due to the slightly disturbing image it creates but the song is definitely at the more erratic end of the spectrum for Beatles. Creating an image that's not expected by the viewer works well to create a sense of shock but has to be within reason as the viewership may just completely disregard the video as completely unconventional.
