Melpomeni and her two sisters, Efthimia and Bethlehem, hid a family of four and a family of six for about two years. They provided them with food and a good hiding space to guarantee them safe from the Nazis. One of the children got very sick and she took him and his sister to the hospital late one night. the doctors got very suspicious about why a non-jewish women had two Jewish kids so the police raided their home. they were found, but before they got taken away melpo and her sisters took the family to her house in the Vermio Mountains. After a while of hiding there, the church bells rang and rang. They never stopped ringing, that was the day the war ended. They were safe.
