Explanation of Surah Al-Ankabut (29:45)

This verse highlights three key instructions from Allah:

1. Recite the Quran The Prophet (PBUH) and all believers are instructed to read and reflect on the Quran, as it is a source of guidance and wisdom.

2. Establish Prayer (Salah) Regular prayer strengthens faith and discipline, keeping a person connected to Allah.

3. Prayer Prevents Sin “ Sincere prayer helps a person stay away from immorality (fahshaâ) and wrongdoing (munkar), as it nurtures righteousness and self-control.

Explanation of Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183) “The Obligation of Fasting

This verse commands believers to fast, just as previous nations were required to do. The main purpose of fasting is to develop taqwa (God-consciousness), which means being mindful of Allah in all actions. Fasting helps control desires, purify the heart, and strengthen discipline, bringing believers closer to Allah. It is not just about abstaining from food and drink but also about improving one character and spirituality.

Explanation of Surah At-Tawbah (9:103) The Purification of Wealth Through Charity

This verse commands the Prophet (ï·º) to take sadaqah (charity) from the believers wealth. Charity serves two main purposes:

1. Purification (Tathir) - It cleanses the giver from greed, selfishness, and sins.

2. Growth (Tazkiyah) - It increases blessings in wealth and strengthens faith.

The Prophet’s dua (prayer) for those who give charity brings them peace and reassurance. The verse reminds us that Allah hears and knows all, encouraging sincerity in charity.

Explanation of Surah Al-Baqarah (2:197) Guidelines for Hajj

This verse outlines the key principles of Hajj (pilgrimage). It takes place in specific months, and once a person enters ihram (the sacred state for Hajj), they must avoid:

1. Rafath - Engaging in sexual relations or inappropriate speech.

2. Fusuq - Committing sins or disobedience.

3. Jidal - Arguing or fighting.

The verse reminds believers that Allah knows all good deeds and encourages them to prepare for Hajj, not just with material provisions but with taqwa (piety), which is the best spiritual sustenance. Finally, it calls upon people of understanding to be conscious of Allah.

Taharah

The Body

•There should not be any najasah or impurity on his body.

•This is indicated by the report narrated by Muslim (292) from Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by two graves, and he said: “They are being punished, but they are not being punished for anything that was difficult to avoid. One of them used to walk around spreading malicious gossip, and the other did not protect himself from his

urine

The clothing

•Narrated by al-Bukhari (337) from Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) who said: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: If one of us sees menstrual blood on her garment, what should she do? He said: “Scratch it, then rub it with your fingers whilst pouring water on it and continue to pour water on it (until it is clean), and then pray in it.”

Conclusion: Preparing for Salah with Khusyu

Khusyu in Salah is essential for a deep spiritual connection with Allah. Proper preparation through purification, mental focus, early readiness, a distraction-free environment, and understanding the prayer enhances concentration and sincerity. When a believer prays with khusyu, Salah becomes a source of peace, discipline, and closeness to Allah, fulfilling its purpose of guiding one away from sin and strengthening faith.

The Virtues Found in Sawm (Fasting)

Fasting during the month of Ramadan, or at other times as prescribed in Islam, carries significant spiritual and worldly benefits. Here are the key virtues of Sawm (fasting):

1. Closer Relationship with Allah

Fasting is a direct act of worship, and through it, a believer strengthens their connection with Allah. By abstaining from food, drink, and other desires for His sake, a person expresses devotion and obedience. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“Fasting is for Me, and I will reward it. (Bukhari)

2. Purification of the Soul and Body

Fasting purifies the body by giving it a rest from indulgence, leading to physical detoxification.

The Virtues Found in Zakah (Charity)

Zakah, the obligatory charity in Islam, holds immense virtues both for the giver and the recipient. Here are the key benefits:

1. Purification of Wealth and Soul

Zakah purifies the wealth of the giver by removing excess and selfishness, ensuring that wealth is used for the welfare of others. It also purifies the heart from greed and attachment to material possessions. Allah says:

“Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them. (Quran 9:103)

2. Increase in Blessings

Giving charity increases blessings in the wealth of the giver, as Allah promises to multiply the reward of those who give in His way. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

Wealth is not diminished by giving charity. (Muslim)

3. Protection from Harm

Charity serves as a shield, protecting the giver from misfortune and hardship. It can be a source of protection in this life and a means of preventing punishment in the Hereafter.

The believers shade on the Day of Judgment will be his charity. (Tirmidhi)

4. Reward in the Hereafter

Zakah, along with voluntary charity, brings immense reward in the Hereafter. It is one of the acts that will benefit a person after death, as charity continues to benefit even after one passing. The Prophet (PBUH) said:

When a person dies, his deeds are cut off, except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for him. (Muslim)

5. Strengthening Social Solidarity

By redistributing wealth to those in need, Zakah promotes social equity and reduces the gap between the rich and the poor. It fosters a sense of community, compassion, and solidarity among Muslims.

6. The Growth of a Grateful Heart

Zakah cultivates gratitude for Allah blessings. By giving, a person acknowledges Allah as the ultimate provider and expresses thankfulness for what has been granted.

Conclusion

Zakah purifies wealth, increases blessings, protects from harm, and rewards both in this life and the Hereafter. It promotes social equity, strengthens community bonds, and fosters gratitude and humility.
