food chains on land
Everyone plays a specific role in the food chains of life.Producers are the beginning of a simple food chains.Producers are plants and vegetables.plants are at the beginning of every food chain that invokes the sun.All energy comes from the sun and plants are the ones who make food with that energy.They use the process of photosynthesis. Plants also make loads of other nutrients for other organisms to eat.Herbivores are the plant consumers of a chain . It might be a squirrel or an elk it will eat a fruit or a vegetable perhaps it will not eat animals.Carnivores eat the herbivore.Carnivore means " meat eater".The last links in the chain are the decomposers .If you die,they eat you.If you lose a leaf they eat it. Whenever something that was alive dies,the decomposers get it. Decomposers break down nutrients in the dead stuff and return it to the soil.The producers can then use the nutrients and elements once its in the soil.The decomposers complete the system,returning essential molecules to the producers.Thats how a foodchain ends.

A food chain shows the feeding relationship between different living things in a particular environment or habitat. Plants are the bottom of a food chain because they are autotrophs that make their food from the non-living environment. Organisms that can make their own food are called producers. Consumers are animals that eat producers or other animals. The animal that eats the producer is called the primary consumer. The animal that eats the primary consumer is called a secondary consumer. The animal that eats the secondary consumer is called a third order consumer and so on to fourth, fifth, etc. The direction of arrows between the organisms shows who eats what.[1]
</sup>

Also, a food chain represents a series of events in which food and energy are transferred from one organism in an ecosystem to another. Food chains show how energy is passed from the sun to producers, from producers to consumers, and from consumers to decomposers. They also show how animals depend on other organisms for food.[2]
</sup>

In any ecosystem, many food chains overlap. Different food chains may include some of the same organisms. Several consumers may eat the same kind of plant or animal for food. When this happens, the food chain forms a food web. A food web shows how food chains are related within an ecosystem.

A food chain is a linear network of links in a food web starting from producer organisms (such as grass or trees which use radiation from the sun to make their food) and ending at apex predator species (like grizzly bears or killer whales) detritevores ( like earthworms and woodlice) or decomposer species (such as fungi or bacteria) A food chain also shows how the organisms are related with each other by the food they eat. Each level of a food chain represents a trophic level.A food chain differs from a food web, because the complex network of different animals' feeding relations are aggregated and the chain only folllows a direct, linear pathway of one animal at a time. natural interconnections between food chains make it a food web a common metric used to quantify food web trophic in foodchain length.

Every living thing needs energy in order to live. Everytime animals do something (run,jump)they use energy to do so. Animals get energy from the food they eat, and all living things get energy from food. Plants use sunlight, water and nutrients to get energy (in a process called photosynthesis). Energy is necessary for living beings to grow. A food chain shows how each living thing gets food, and how nutrients and energy are passed from creature to creature. Food chains begin with plant-life, and end with animal -life. Some animals eat plants, some animals eat other animals. A simple food chain could start with flies which is eaten by frogs. Then the frogs are eaten by snakes.

Animals are called consumers because they cannot make their food . The grass is eaten by herbivore animals which are primary consumers and the herbivores are eaten by carnivore animals which are secondary consumers. Bacteria and fungi are decomposers. They eat decaying matter means dead plants and animals.
So in this activity you can see grass is eaten by herbivores and herbivores are eaten by carnivore animals......
THANK YOU.

By : Kashvi Bajpai
As we all know that every living thing needs food to live.
FOOD CHAIN
Living things are linked through thier food ,for example-A fox ,A rabbit and a plant are linked because the rabbit eats the plant and the fox eats the rabbit .These links are called FOOD CHAIN. Animals and plants get the energy energy through the form of food.Plants use the sun's energy to make thier own food,while animals eat plants or the other animals.Most animals eat more than one kind of food , so they are part of several different food chain. Many food chains may be joined together to form a food web .
Thank you !! thank you

Everytime animals do something (run, jump) they use energy to do so.

Food chains begin with plant-life, and end with animal-life.
