Loved her work with AP class, poems and art analysis; Icarus; atmosphere was great...class culture and academic expectations were well established; Students shared out there analysis.

Geography students arrived to class having completed an EdPuzzle and prepared answers to four questions about the U.S. occupation of Japan and the end of WWII. They did a quick review in small groups then reported out as Mr. Flemer wrote on the whiteboard. The structure of having individuals have the back-up of their group members was helpful. One student who was cold-called didn't have the answer but his group-mate did. I also noticed Mr. Flemer being mindful of calling on students equitably, looking for new voices to contribute.

Post WWII - Occupation of Japan

I really enjoyed Mr. Flemer's lesson, student teams and report out on Japan. Students interacted with one another in groups, answering questions as Mr. Flemer circulated and checked in with individual groups. He gave group parameters as well as time checks for group report out. As they reported out, Mr. Flemer called on a variety of students, always looking to include new students. Mr. Flemer also helped connect students to prior lessons to the day's objective.

Guest Speaker (Future of American Democracy Project)

Students enjoyed a class period learning about the history and current implementation of partisan gerrymandering through expert guest speaker Eric McGhee. Students were observed to be engaged in the material. Mr. Kelly occasionally stepped in with connections to prior class learning and space was made for student questions as they came up.

AP Government students learned the history of Gerrymandering and the significance of it, and how it is also implemented and practiced. Guest speaker, Mr. McGhee, was fantastic and really grasped the attention of the students who looked really engaged with what was discussed by Mr. McGhee.

Really enjoyed watching the AP students examine the art displayed on the screen as well as discussing Icarus. The class collaborated with small groups to open up opportunities for students to share ideas and opinions regarding the content.
