         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ebola is a virus that enters the host cell using a GP protein. Once the Ebola virus integrates itself into the cell membrane of the host, the virus uses its own RNA polymerase as well as proteins from the host cell to copy its own single-stranded RNA. Ebola is like HIV in the fact that it is an RNA virus, however, it is not a retrovirus like HIV due to the fact that its RNA is not copied into DNA and inserted into the host's genome. </div>]]></description>

         <title>What are the components of the Ebola virus?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Little is known about many of the host proteins that Ebola is comprised of. One of the most prominent is the GP protein that coats the surface of the virus. This protein forms trimers, which are composed of a transmembrane and an extracellular subunit. The virus is surrounded by a membrane, under which there is a matrix layer containing proteins. In the center of the virus, there is a spiral-shaped nucleocapsid that is made of NP proteins (which causes the RNA to bind). </div>]]></description>
