It was something blurry and not interesting at that time and I passed it, without giving it any importance.

My aha moment is when I read that Aristotle believed that persuasion can be learned. I always thought that some people are just gifted with charisma and personality to be persuasive communicators and that there is a limit on what you can do if you weren’t naturally born with it. Now that I know it can be learned, it gives me hope that I can become a better communicator in the future. Another aha moment was learning that brevity is an important rhetorical device in having an effective speech or presentation. I am a logical thinker and usually use every information I can find in making decisions. That carries over in my presentations where I try to fit all data and information that I can.

As Aristotle pointed out, metaphors clarify abstract ideas into something concrete while making it beautiful. I will be incorporating at least one metaphor in my presentation. As having an outsider's perspective is important, I will try to show my finished presentation to someone completely disconnected from my studies or the University who can provide me a fresh perspective on it.

I had two 'AHA' moments while reading these articles. The first one was about the importance of using metaphors to persuade people. I never thought using metaphors can be so important that Aristotle considered it a rhetorical device. The second one was about the significance of stepping beyond a company's perspective while crafting communication. In the past while creating marketing campaigns, I have often taken feedback while designing the communication from my colleagues but barely from any outsider who can truly reflect another perspective. Doing so would have made my campaigns more effective. In the current business climate that we operate in, it is essential to have a outsider perspective.

If a company says that they are against racism, then they should employ people from diverse backgrounds to show this.

Thirdly, I will put more feelings into it, aiming to create with the audience a more emotional connection that represents the PATHOS of my presentation. Using metaphors has bing always my strongest point in trying to catch the audience's attention. However, after reading this article, I have realized how fundamental this skill is and the importance of regularly brushing this skill up. Another piece of information that astounded me was the fact that Aristotle literally gave us the complete guideline on effective persuasion 2000 years ago. Those articulations are the actual AHA moments for me, as I realized how much better my presentation and speech could be if I have included them.

It is clear that persuasion is a skill that can help you attract investors, build brands, sell a product, and trigger a movement. But my intriguing moment was the realization of how important it is to even billionaires. Warren Buffet is a businessman who must have achieved a lot, given his status but the only diploma he proudly displays in his office is a public-speaking certificate from a Dale Carnage course. He stated that improving communication skills would boost professional value by 50%, instantly. These points alone struck the great importance of persuasion and communication to me.

I see how even the most successful people in the world value persuasion as not just an act of levity but a fundamental skill that takes special devices and techniques to be successful. Entrepreneurs persuade investors to back their startups, job candidate persuade recruiters to hire them and so on. The process requires technique to master, and this as to be done with practice.

From the knowledge gained reading these articles and to be more persuasive in my upcoming presentations I will be very authentic in passing information. I will avoid sharing generic, hollow, or hypocritical sentiments. The use of metaphors is believed by some scholars to give language its verbal beauty. I will ensure to utilize more metaphors in my presentation as these can be seen to turn words to images to help others gain a clearer understanding of their ideas.

From this article, it is evident the companies need a lot of persuasions to attract and retain customers. Consumer and their perspective have evolved. As a result, product quality is not their only concern. They want to see how much their favorite brands and their corporation are taking part in their corporate social responsibilities. My aha moments were when I got to know how consumers react to persuasion messages from a company and checks the validity of the claim. The second aha moment is when I went over the tips section for effective and authentic campaigns.

The above moments felt important because there is an underlining technique for how companies can be persuasive towards the customer. They need to persuade customers for a variety of reasons. For instance getting them to buy a new product, advertise an existing product, and most importantly standing up and supporting the right ones is in any social unrest. The tips section is also important as it highlights how companies should act during their campaigns. Integrating and maintaining the said points is a real challenge however, if done correctly, these will definitely bring a positive impact

In order to persuade my audience, I need to have a moral consciousness about the topic I am presenting. I need to project my stance about the topic sincerely and wholeheartedly. The audience is much like the modern customers who can identify hypocrisy in no time. Hence I have to maintain consistency in my stance. For topics in which I don't have sufficient expertise, I would look for outside help. I need to understand the perspective of my audience and prepare my presentation in a way that they can connect easily.

Hence, it indicates that when it comes to persuasion, less is always more. While the second is communicating with care and willingness to revaluate your point of view builds trust among the stakeholders while learning and growing with them.

It is important because I will understand the thoughts of people on how to persuade them. Despite the change in environment and situation, people are still convinced by the same way as who in 2000 years ago. Therefore, if I can apply the 5 rhetorical device well, it can help me to persuade people in different environment and backround.
