Ivan R. Bran
1. According to the quiz, my primary love language is acts of service. I found the quiz accurate because I surely don't like to receive gifts as an appreciation of love.

2. According to Macionis, "The social construction of reality is the process by which people creatively shape reality through social interactions"(105). One of my closest friends who loves to hear soulful words has an appreciation of friendship. My reality from her is incredible, I feel connected in every aspect of love. Since acts of service and word affirmation was my top love language according to the quiz. I found it unique and interesting.

3. All love languages are examples of symbolic interaction because those languages represent each person's interests and values. For example, if you understand that your mother loves to receive gifts as an appreciation of love, then you know how to respond towards your mother. I understand that not everyone communicates love, in the same way, each person has its unique way to perceive love, thus we people understand and respond to each person differently. For instance, according to Macionis, "...we vary our performance according to where we are. We may joke loudly in a restaurant, for example, but lower our voice when entering a church, temple, or mosque"(108). We, people, understand that some people have different social interactions. I conclude that symbols affect interaction because we people have the ability to interact and love people using basic symbols such as words, objects, and signs.

Reference
Macionis, J. J.

1. The quiz accurately found that my love language is "Words of Affirmation" because it melts my heart when my partner is able to explain an idea I had expressed weeks earlier in their own words, which shows me that they have been listening to me and that makes me feel understood and loved!

2. My partner has a different love language than myself ("Physical Touch"). According to the social construct of reality theory, what we experience as reality is actually an on-going process that is actively shaped by social participants (Macionis, p. 105). Every now and then my partner and I's realities don't match up, because they want to hold my hand and kiss in public, but sometimes I find "PDA" (public displays of affection) to be embarrassing!

3.

1.My primary love language is Words of Affirmation I believe the quiz was accurate because for me hearing the words “ I appreciate you” means a lot, to know that someone appreciates me for who I am. Its very comforting to me once in a while to hear from my loved ones “ I appreciate your hard work” I understand you and just remembering to myself that I'm indeed doing a great job and not to give up with school and work. When ever someone insult me, trust me that will stick on my mind forever, but I have learn to not take anything personal and remember that whatever someone else got to say about you in reality is how they think about themselves.
2.My mothers love language is Quality Time. Honestly I have taught to myself before that I should spend more time with my mother and my family. My mother is a single mom she has worked all her life and I remember when I was younger that I would beg her to stay home with my brother and I because I wanted to be with her all the time I missed her. I would even blame my father for not being with us and thinking to myself that a if he would’ve been there my mom wouldn’t have to work a lot and would have more time to be with her. Now that a I work and go school I don’t have to be with my mother we work different shifts when I'm at home she is working on my days off she is working or I got stuff to do and I'm not home when she is. when ever we both have time to spend quality time together she is happy and loves being around me and my brother and I love spending time with her as well but now its more difficult for us to have a day for to spend together.
3.The Five symbols are part of our everyday life interactions.

According to the book the symbols here are Emotions, Language, and Humor. Symbolic interaction is how we view society composed of symbols that we use to establish meaning to the way we communicate with others we act according to how we interpret situations. (pg. 112) furthermore as humans we act towards others on the basis of the meaning those other have for them. A person must be able to understand their partners love language in order to be able to interpret their partners feelings and attitudes this is one way love language can be applied to Symbolic Interaction.

1. My primary Love Language is “Words of Affirmation”, and the quiz was accurate, hearing my family or loved one tell me they are proud of who I’ve become, with all the effort I’ve put in my hard work, absolutely makes me feel happy and cared for and that I matter to them.

2. My sister’s love language is “Acts of Service” and as the book states, “social construction of reality is the process by which people creatively shape reality through social interaction”, (Macionis, p. 105), which just shows how her having burdens lifted off her shoulders weighs more than anything else. I think my interactions with her make more sense now, as when we were younger and I would help her finish her chores and she would “praise” me shows how our Love Languages affects our realities. Meaning she would be happy with the help, and I would be happy with the praise.

3. The 5 Love Languages are an example of Symbolic Interaction in the sense that it’s a way that we present ourselves in these situations, like the book states, “presentation of self, a person’s efforts to

create specific impressions in the minds of others” (p. 108). The way we present ourselves to others is how they can perceive our actions towards them. The symbols are body language, non-verbal communication, demeanors, touching, smiling, emotions, language, and humor. These symbols affect interactions by displaying how we feel, if someone who isn’t fond of physical touch will probably visibly recoil if someone places their arm around them if someone’s Love Language is “Quality Time”, then by just being in the presence of their loved ones would be enough, non-verbal communication can play a major role in their moment, with smiles, demeanors, and body language.

My primary love language is Quality Time, which I found to be accurate. To me, there is nothing better than spending time with my partner or a loved one and doing something together that we enjoy, whether it is an activity or just sitting around talking, this is when I feel most loved.

My best friend’s love language is Words of Affirmation. In my interactions with her, I tend to find myself more vocal and open because I know that is one way she feels seen. There have been times where our realities have not matched up and according to our textbook, “reality is not as fixed as we think (Macionis p. 105). There are times when she finds the most connection in talking or complimenting each other, and I find more connection in spending a day together doing an activity we both like.

The 5 love languages are an example of symbolic interaction because it focuses on an individual’s “reality” of what Love is to them – how its shown, expressed, felt, and how we choose to present ourselves relative to the situation. Some symbols include a person’s body language, facial expressions, verbal affirmations, personal touch, and gift giving. The symbols effect interactions because we naturally utilize the various symbols to alter our behavior to better fit the situation or interaction that we are having. For example, if my friend is sad and I move my hand close to her hand, but she pulls away, this symbolic non-verbal action of her body language tells me that she does not like personal touch, so I have to alter my behavior to better suit the situation at hand.

1. My primary love language is acts of service and I do believe that the quiz was accurate because in the end when it shows all of the love languages and their percentages the order that they were in was actually correct from the least to greatest. I do enjoy acts of service more than I do receiving gifts or being touched.

2. My father's love language was, I believe, receiving gifts. I was young so I was not really able to buy him gifts, but he would give me gifts a lot, which I would appreciate but also find awkward and sometimes embarrassing. Our realities differed from each other a lot due to our different love languages as we had two different expectations, I suppose, as he would give me gifts and instead of giving a gift back I may have washed the dishes or something close to that.

3. These five love languages are an example of symbolic interaction because each love language is different and pertains to an individual's own “reality” of how love should be shown. I believe the symbols here are verbal and nonverbal communication which is, “communication using body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech”(Macionis p.109), emotions, and language. I think that these symbols affect our interactions because we as people may change how we act with others based on them. According to the textbook, “presentation of self, a person’s efforts to create specific impressions in the minds of others” (Macionis p.108). Basically, if we want people to have a certain impression of us, we will change ourselves to fit that and make it happen.

1. My primary love language is "Physical Touch", which is accurate. I feel the most secure, loved, and appreciated with even a small physical gesture.

2. My father expresses his affection in quality time. When I was a kid he would take me everywhere, and we would hang out all the time. My social construction of reality is different from my father. So by spending time with me he was expressing his affection by, to paraphrase from Baldovino on page 106 'presenting himself to me in a form suitable to the relationship he wished to achieve.' Which was our father/son bond through time spent together. Whereas when I was a teen I disliked being "dragged everywhere". I now know better and meet my father on his comfort level.

3. The Five Love languages are a perfect example of Symbolic Interaction. It is every persons individual short hand for expressing and receiving affection, care, and love. Knowing someone's love language is almost like a cheat sheet to their heart and mind. When two people share the same love language, it almost creates their own bubble of communication. While a lot of the 5 languages could be classified as "non verbal" such as hugging, doing a chore for someone, giving them a small gift, or spending time with them. There is a verbal aspect to many as well. Words of affirmation is solely verbal, and quality time isn't spent in silence. A gift given with no words exchanged is weird, and even physical touch could be paired with small affirmations. So every action is "Idealized" as is discussed on page 111. Especially if love languages do not match. I'll spend time with you, because that is the idealized way for you to know I care.

1. My primary love language was quality time. I do believe this quiz is accurate because all of my results seem about right. Considering my relationship with my significant other quality time is very big for me because we live about an hour away from each other so we do not see each other as often.
2. My significant others love language is physical touch. Considering the social construct of reality theory things are shaped by social participants. Sometimes my partner and I's love language do not align even though sometimes they can go along good together. For example, I do not really like being on my phone while we are together whereas my partner can be on the phone while still touching me and still be content.
3. The 5 love languages is an example of symbolic interaction because it shows how one can communicate or interact with others in there strong suit or liking. “communication using body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech” ( Macionis p. 109 ). The symbols here can either be verbal or nonverbal such as materialistic things or physical touch. Symbols can affect the interactions because a person may take something a different way than you implied to express it which can create and misunderstanding which can also lead to worse things.

My primary love language is quality time, I believe this is very accurate cause I enjoy going out on adventures. One thing that is important to me is the ability to talk and take time to enjoy the presence of the individuals of my life, even if it's in a setting that doesn’t seem the most ideal.

A person who has a completely different love language from me would have to be my father. He has the dominant side of acts of service. Whenever I interact with my dad our conversations or time spent together is very small. We only speak about little things about our day but never go deeper than that. Such as speaking about how our day felt or our feelings towards anything. For me it's very interesting cause I’d love to speak to him about how I am going and also would love to know how he feels. But as I got older I learned that he shows his love through the acts of services he does. Such as giving my family and me very meaningful gifts. This relates to the social construction of reality saying “But how people see events depends on their different backgrounds, interests, and intentions.” (Maciouis p. 105). My father sees giving and showing acts of service as a way of showing love and appreciation. His background is very different to me in this manner because his intention of giving gifts may be different from my idea of it.

The 5 Love Languages are an example of symbolic interaction because it's a process of communication between individuals. Such as nonverbal communication, where “nonverbal communication, communication using body movements, gestures, and facial ex- pressions rather than speech.” (Maciouis p. 109). So for example I have the love language of quality time where I enjoy just being in the presence of someone and enjoy simple conversation. But during these interactions there is a huge influence of nonverbal communication. Because even though there is communication of speech, non verbal communication such as body movement influences and effects moments of conversation

1.) My primary Love Language is “Quality Time” and I believe that the quiz is accurate since I rather just do absolutely nothing and spend time with the person I love, instead of buying gifts or doing things for each other to show that we love and care for one another.

2.) When I think of a family or friend that has a different love language than me, I think of my mom. Her primary love language is Acts of service so when she has shown her love towards me by acting on to what she thought is best for me, there have been disagreements based on our different realities. Social construction of reality is “the process by which people creatively shape reality through social interaction” Macionis (p. 106). Coming to understand that her way of showing love is by trying to do things to make my life easier is actually different from her wanting to control every aspect of my life.

3.)The five love languages are examples of symbolic interaction since they are a form of communicating what one feels or needs in either a direct or indirect way. Nonverbal communication “communication using body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech” Macionis (p. 110), is one of the symbols that connect to quality time and acts of service love languages. Both love languages are/ can be nonverbal since it is based off actions rather than words like words of affirmation love language.

1. My primary love language is quality time, I agree with the results from the quiz. Even though I do enjoy alone time, I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend and family. When it's from watching tv to going out with them, I enjoy their presence and being with them. It doesn't matter what we do or where we go it's the time that is spent together that matters to me.
2. A person who has a different primary love language than me is my boyfriend, he loves physical touch. From hugging him to holding his hand as his ways of affirmation about my feelings for him and brighten his mood. I enjoy physical touch from him but not from others, even friends sometimes. So it was different at first and awkward for me at first but now I feel more comfortable with physical touch thanks to him. That was the different reality I had in comparison to him.
3. The 5 love languages are symbols of interaction by coming from someone who plays a role. In page 104 a role is behavior that is expected by someone who carries a specific status. All of the love languages can come from a significant other, siblings, parents, children etc. At the same time, on page 104 again, people have a role set which is the amount of roles that person holds.

The quiz was accurate because I’ve always loved being complimented, encouraged, and spoken to directly.

2. My close friends love language is “Quality Time”. We seem to at times be experiencing a different “reality” because I can spend a lot of time without seeing my friends and still feel appreciated through texting them while she has to be constantly going out with her friends and spending time together to feel loved and appreciated.

3. The 5 Love Languages are an example of symbolic interaction because we learn to understand and communicate with one another through unique language and symbols. As the chapter says “...quite a bit of “reality” remains unclear in everyone’s mind... So we present ourselves in terms that suit the setting and our purposes...”(Macionis, p.107) I think this shows how we seem to mold ourselves by learning each other love languages to be able to express our love to one another better. I think the symbols are time, body language, physical touch, verbal compliments, and gift-giving. These symbols affect our interactions because they help make our relationships stronger and help up make social choices that will benefit us.

Melissa Zamudio.

1. My primary love language was receiving gifts, my quiz was accurate but I have words of affirmation and quality time the same score that was eight and for receiving gifts was nine of score.

2. My boyfriend, I think is a good and clear example to talk about him in this assignment of the five love languages because he is totally opposite to me and my personality, and know I understand why we don’t match very well because of this situation of love languages. I am very romantic and I always giving him a lot of gifts to surprise him and give him all of me to tell him gay I love him but his love language is not the same as mine because he told me that he loves me by helping me a lot on all my situations and problems and more so that is his love al gauge that is difference.

3. By reading this question it was giving me a lot of ideas to respond it but I think that the answer is that love languages as symbolic interactions can be different in all of term like some people can be more servicial than other and for example a couple can be one romantic to demonstrate her love and the other one is demonstrated his love by giving her gifts and attention so they can not understand them each other because it doesn’t have the same language but it is doesn’t mean that they don’t have love to each other.

1. My primary love language, according to the quiz is "physical touch". I believe that quiz was slightly inaccurate because I believe that my primary love language is "Quality time", this love language scored a close second when I took the quiz. I personally prefer just spending time with a person I care about. I believe the quiz was a little inaccurate in my case at least because of the limitation in the answers.

2. My friend expresses their affection through "physical touch". After reading the chapter we learn that in the social construct of reality theory, things are formed by the people participating within it. Showing us that one person's "reality" can be different from another's. In regard to my friend and I's difference in love language we are able to find a middle ground between our two different love languages and "realities". I'm personally not too big on touch but to find that compromise/middle ground instead of hugging each other, we would simply "dap" each other up or give a quick fist bump.

3. The 5 Love Languages are an example of symbolic interaction because they are able to show us how we can communicate and interact with each other in a way where they feel the most comfortable , highlighting the different "realities" each person experiences. The symbols that are highlighted here are verbal and non-verbal communication which in the book is described as "communication using body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech"(Macionis p.109). We are shown through these different love languages, that there are multiple ways we can communicate and interact with others. These methods of communication are shaped and formed by the individual realities we experience. These symbols affect our interactions because it can lead to misinterpretation or misunderstanding. A person whose love language isn't physical touch might misinterpret the actions of someone whose love language is physical touch. It is important to understand the different " realities" others may have and try to find the a middle ground where both parties are comfortable to express themselves.

1. My primary love language is "Acts Of Service". I believe the quiz was accurate because I do appreciate when someone goes out of their way to help and support me. I am a firm believe of the saying "actions speak louder than words."

2. My friend displays their affection through "Words of Affirmation." We are both different since it is more meaningful for me personally when someone shows me they love me through what they are willing to do for me; however, my friend shows their love by showing recognition and acknowledging the efforts of people. This is an example of one person's reality being different from my own, but in events where my friend and I interact, I usually try to present myself according to the situation, "So we present ourselves in terms that suit the setting and our purposes." (Macionis pg. 105) and I try to understand that she may see things differently than I do; as it states in the textbook, "But how people see events depends on their different backgrounds, interests, and intentions." (Macionis pg. 105).

3. The 5 love languages are an example of Symbolic Interaction because it is a form of communicating the feelings of someone either verbal or non-verbal, it is a way to express ones emotions. The symbols can be verbal or non-verbal. For example, non-verbal communication, as it states in the textbook is, "communication using body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech." (Macionis pg. 109). I feel like my love language "Acts of Service" can be connected to non-verbal communication since it is more about the actions rather than the words. These symbols affect the interactions because everybody has a different way of showing appreciation to someone, someone's "reality" may be different from our own. Because we have these different realities, we might see ourselves in an unfamiliar situation which can lead to misinterpreting one's feelings as well as misunderstanding one's intent.

1. My primary love of language according to the quiz is "Quality Time". I believe that was slightly inaccurate because I'm believe that my primary love of language should be "physical touch", this love language was second result just by 5% of difference. I appreciate more when people that I'm close hug me. I also like quality time but not that much lately because I feel that I need time for myself.

2. My girlfriend display her affection through act of service or words affirmation. We are totally different since is more meaningful for me to spend time together and just be hugging each other. My social construction of reality is different from my girlfriend. When my girlfriend and I started dating, I wanted to hold her hand and walk in the park, but she was ashamed to take me by the hand in public. Every now we always hold hands when we go out because she knows that I'm feel more comfortable holding hands that walk each other on their on.

3. The 5 Love Language are an example of social interaction because everyone is presenting their different reality about love, how they expressed, felt, and how present love to others. Some symbols included gifts, words of affirmation, or personal touch. When someone is hugging me or holding my hand when I'm sad, I see those interactions as a symbols of love and affect towards me. These symbols that came from the language of love affect the interactions in a way that everyone receiving a different reality of love, so some people may find some uncomfortable symbols and others more comfortable depending to their language of love. as Baldovino suggest, " we present ourselves in terms that suit the setting and our purposes".

1. My primary love language is quality time, my quiz is accurate to be honest but it was a close score since I had both 22% for Words of Affirmation and Acts of Service just behind Quality Time with a 33%.

2. My friend, I think she is a good example of being the opposite to me because she is a very physical person who loves to interact more with actions than with words. But we end up building a strong chemistry because she is very active and I’m more the calm guy, I value a lot listening to her ideas and endless brainstorming she has every time I met her.

3. The 5 love languages are a good example of the Symbolic Interactions because they transmit the emotions or feelings from somebody through physical action or by words. Talking about physical action or non-verbal as it states the author the Non-verbal communication means ¨Without saying a single word… communication using body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech¨. (Macionis pg,109). And we all can noticed than verbal communications involve words, speaking, etc. I do believe that my love language ¨Quality Time¨ fits very accurate with my personality nowadays since I no longer have a lot of free time and I barely see my beloved friends and family so whenever I got the opportunity to interact with, I really appreciate that moment since I know that we will meet in a long time. Also, since I’m a calm guy, I listen to my friends and family and try to understand their worries or life plans they have in their minds. After they finish, I share my point of view and then I talk about myself.

I would say this result is accurate because I took this same test a couple years back and got the same result. I also can reflect on my relationship and see that is a common way I feel the most loved.

2.) Think of a friend or family member with a different love language than yours. How have your interactions with this person resulted in you experiencing a different "reality" from them? (Be sure you've read what the chapter says on the social construction of reality.) (2 - 3 sentences.)

My husband's "Love Language" is "Words of Affirmation", which has led to a learning curve on both ends. He requires a more constant conversation of love, as well as encouragement. Whereas on my end, I get the most fulfillment out of the chores being completed.

3.) How are the 5 Love Languages an example of Symbolic Interaction? What are the symbols here? AND, How do the symbols affect the interactions? Answer each of these questions and cite Chapter 4. (3 - 4 sentences)

The 5 Love Languages are an example of Symbolic Interaction because this is showing how different people of our society can love and be loved by one another. The symbols here would be verbal/nonverbal communication. This can affect one's relationships because they wouldn't understand the other's actions. For some people, physical touch may be a big deal for them--but other's may not feel the same. For instance, the text writes, "Mutual touching suggests intimacy and caring. Apart from close relationships, touching is generally something men do to women (but less often, in our culture, to other men" (Macionis, 110). When one side of the couple could be trying to express their care, the other may not see it as necessary.

1. My Primary love language is Words of affirmation. The quiz is accurate, although I believe all the options play a big role in a relationship for me actions speak louder than words. Not only in relationships but in mostly everything we do in life our actions will speak louder than our words, we can easily persuade someone to believe or trust want we want them to think but actually do it is something more different. We can all say " I love you" or "You mean the world to me" but do we really? what do we actually do to demonstrate that.

2. It is hard to really compare with a family or friend but I will use myself. At the begging of my relationship with now my wife I thought the physical touch meant a lot, touching, kissing, and holding hands in public will demonstrate the love we have for each other now as my spouse my thinking has changed and doing the most I have to offer I believe is the best way to demonstrate the love I have for her. But something true stated in the text book " we have the ability to shape who we are and to guide what happens from moment to moment," people can make us believe sometimes what they want us to believe so we have to be careful and really know when actions are meant.

3. All love symbols exist because they all form part of love. We are all different we love to demonstrate and receive love in different ways. As stated in chapter 4 of society the basics "emotions, more commonly called feelings, are an important element of human social life." Feelings are very important and how that loved one love to feel should be important to us.

My brother and I are different, he always wants to hug people or give gifts and it doesn't always just depend on whoever it is or the situation, we get along well I feel that communication is key and we know each other very well to try to have that connection and trust. There are some times where for annoying he does things that do not seem correct to me but outside of that we make things work so as not to "crash" and end up in some strong argument.
3. The 5 languages of love are quality time, acts of service, receiving gifts, words of affirmation, and physical touch, from my point of view it is related to symbolic interaction since it "highlights how people interact, they construct everyday reality." (p.165). How a person develops in society says a lot about them, this is where roles are involved. "Behavior expected of someone who holds a particular status" (p. 103) by this same effect in the interactions by the status that one maintains.

1. My primary love language is quality time, and I think that the quiz was pretty accurate, because I think it’s most important just to be with my significant other even if we’re not doing anything “eventful”, I can just be hanging out at home watching tv all day, and as long as we’re spending time together, then that’s what matters to me.

2. One of my cousins has a clear love language, and it’s definitely different than mine. I would guess that his love language is receiving gift, because he loves to buy things for every, he’s pretty materialistic, liked buying expensive things for himself, and because of this, I think his live language has to do with gifts, and that’s just the way he expresses his love. The book states that “we present ourselves in terms that suit the setting and our purposes, we try to guide what happens next” (Macionis 105), which would make sense why people have different love languages or “realities”, because we show “love” based on the way that we see it.

3. The 5 love languages are an example of symbolic interaction because they are a form of expression that symbolizes your love for someone or what love means to you. For example, since quality time is my love language, having one on one time and being fully engaged with someone would symbolize that I love someone, and I would think that they love me too since they’re offering me their time. It is stated that “language communicates not only a surface reality but also deeper levels of meaning” (Macionis 113), and I think that this shows that a love language can be symbolic because it much more than what it’s presented as. It shows your reality of love, but also symbolizes the love that you feel within you.

The results that I got after taking the quiz was Acts of Service, I would say that this is pretty true since even with my friends and families I feel loved whenver they help me do something.
A friend or family memeber that I have that has a different love language than I am is my mom, I believe her love language is Words of Arffirmation. She knows that I love her but I never really say it, but instead I show it by making sure that the house is always clean whenever she comes home etc.
The five love languages is shown as an example of Symbolic interaction is in away where we use this to understand what we would like to feel and understand. Where some people like to feel loved by doing this while other wants to be feel loved by doing the other thing.“communication using body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech” ( Macionis p. 109 ).“ With us really understanding what the five love languages are makes it easier for us to know and love people easily since we can understand them a lot more on how they would want to feel loved. It is hard to connect with people if you don't know what is their love language

My primary Love Language is Quality time. Personally I think this result was accurate as I am a person who likes to spend a lot of time with my significant other. Besides just spending quality time, I also ask my partner that when we spend time together that everything else that can be a distraction to be put to the side for the moment just so it’s completely just me and him.

A family member with a different love language than mine would be my mother, she’s very different from me and she’s a little bit more complicated to read but I believe she fits in the receiving gifts love language. Not only does she see a gesture of love from her partners but she is also a little bit materialistic. Sometimes when it comes to holidays such as Christmas days, I get so overwhelmed in trying to find her a special gift because she pretty much has everything already, not only that but she is very picky with what she gets as well. My interaction with her in regards to different love languages has been a little complicated but we manage to find our way to connect as she is my mother and I am her daughter at the end of the day.

The 5 Love Languages is an example of Symbolic Interaction in which it is composed of symbols that people use to establish meaning on a daily basis. Some symbols i’d say would be nonverbal communication such as body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech (Macionis p.109) these symbols can be very effective for me with my significant other, due to me knowing him really well that if i were to perceive some off body language i’ll automatically know that something is wrong.

1. My primary love language is “Quality time.” I definitely agree with the accuracy of this quiz. I am definitely the type of person who would rather just be in your presence, wether it be in silence or in joy. I just love to be there with whom I love.

2. My brother for example, with his girlfriend, has a completely different love language. He prefers to show his love through gifts as well as space. He feels as though space makes the heart grow fonder. My reality is different because I am not that type of person.

3. These love languages can be similar but also very different depending on the person. Physical touch can be important for someone to show a form of affection. Quality time can also be a form of affection as well as attention. Acts of service can mean someone doing things for the other and maybe that is the only form of affection they want/need. They are all very different and it varies depending on every person and their perspective.

1. My primary love language was quality time with a 33% and physical touch just under it with a 30% and I found the result to be very accurate because I love spending time with people whether it's to have dinner, go thrifting, or just run errands together, and I’m constantly holding their hand or giving them hugs, if I feel comfortable enough to.

2. I live with my grandmother and her love language is acts of service. Acts of service was my second to last result in the test, and I know that I don't do enough for her as much as she does for me, and she loves being alone so I feel very distant to her at times. Her reality is that I don't love her enough because I don't do my chores enough, and my reality is that she doesn't love me or want to be around me since she almost never is. But the 5 love languages is something that I have been aware of since my sophomore year of highschool, so I know that she really does love me since she is always doing things for me, like making me dinner when I dont have the time, or cleaning up the little things I might have left in the bathroom or something like that, and I work on doing acts of service for her like making her dinner or baking her favorite cookies. We also both have physical touch as our second love language so we often give each other hugs and she loves touching my hair, so I feel like with the both of us working together, we know we both love each other, even though we portray it differently most times.

3. The five love languages are an example of symbolic interaction because they are symbols themselves, the same way a red octagon is a symbol for “stop,” since there is that agreement in the meaning behind those interactions. In chapter 4, under section 4.5, it is stated that non-verbal communication is “communication using body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech” (Macionis, 109). These can be symbols for something that isn't being physically said, like if someone doesnt look at you in the eyes that can symbolize that they are uncomfortable. These symbols affect interactions because if someone bakes you a pie, its just someone baking you a pie, but because we have added that meaning of love behind it, many people use this as a way to portray love to each other since they baked/were baked a pie.

1. My primary love language according to the quiz is " Words of affirmation". In my opinion, the quiz is completely correct since I like to receive comments of appreciation towards myself, I also feel that when it comes to expressing love, individuals are extremely selective and attempt to express themselves as best they can with words, which seems to be the case with my person and I really like when it happens.

2. When I think of a person with a different love language, I think of my girlfriend since her love language is Physical touch. When she and I see each other regularly she likes me to put my arm around her or hold her hand, which I found unusual at first since I didn't think it was that significant to the relationship. Later, I discovered that physical contact liked me as well, and she learned about words affirmation from me, so we both had our own love language in certain ways, but we also learnt from the other person's love language.

3. The 5 love lenguages are an example of symbolic interaction because its how a person can communicate with that people hemmed in or loved, it can be demostrated by hugs, words or even time with the person. As it mention on the book pg 109, "communication using body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech." The symbols can be verbarl, non verbal, materialism and interaction or physical touch. Symbols affect interaction in such a way that sometimes you can behave in different ways with the person you love and with friends and then in that way each person with whom you interact has a different way of thinking and they get a certain impression. In the text book it states, "Symbols affect interaction in such a way that sometimes you can behave in different ways with the person you love and with friends and then in that way each person with whom you interact has a different way of thinking and they get a certain impression."(page 108). This is the way that people have different way of thinking from the person and it affects the moment of interacting with others.

1. My primary love language came out to be "Words of Affirmation". I do agree with the results of my quiz because even just a little positive remark or something encouraging told to me by a loved one will motivate me and lift me up no matter my circumstances. When I was younger, I used to love gifts that loved ones would give me and I believe this showed me their love. However, as I've gotten older, I realize that the littlest things for me tend to mean a lot more than gifts. According to out textbook, "That is why I believe the test was accurate.

2. My mom has the Love Language of "Quality Time". Sometimes it is difficult to have the quality of time with her that she wants (as well as I), and sometimes I just want encouraging words or for her to tell me that she's proud of me. With us having 2 different "Love Languages", it makes it difficult sometimes for me to truly show how much I love her and vice versa. According to our textbook, "We experience role conflict when we find ourselves pulled in various directions as we try to respond to the many statuses we hold." (Macionis, p. 105). In this case, me and my mom have hold 2 different statuses, one being son and other mother, and we both experience conflict in the way we show how we love one another.

3. The 5 Love Languages are an example of Symbolic Interactions because everyone tends to experience and show love differently. Some show their love by spending quality time with loved ones, others tend to give gifts of appreciation to the ones they love, and others show their love just through their words. Some even show love without saying a word. In our book it states that nonverbal communication is, "Communication using body movements, gestures, and facial expressions rather than speech." (Macionis, p. 110). In conclusion, everyone has a different Love Language and it shows hoe different individuals communicate their love to others.

My mothers love language would be words of affirmation. When i was younger my mom and I didn't really get along, she has always been a trigger to me. Since I moved out, our relationship has gotten a lot better. In the text it says that some sociologists have argued that the rise of social media has connected people in new ways but weakened social ties among people who share physical space (Macionis p.107) I think texting has weakened the relationship I have between my mother because she interprets certain texts as being rude. I think what she wants most from me is words to of appreciation and gratitude.

The 5 love languages are an example of symbolic interaction, because they are a forms of love that help better understand how someone works. Some symbols acts of service, words of affirmation, or quality time. For example, a father unconditionally loves his daughter, but his love language is quality time. So he takes her out to do outdoor activities as her life. His daughter understands that quality time his love language. So she enjoys being with her dad, being in the outdoors. Then as she gets older being outdoors is apart of her reality.

How have your interactions with this person resulted in you experiencing a different"reality" from them? (Be sure you've read what the chapter says on the social construction of reality.)

•One of my family members took the quiz and the results for that person was “quality time together” and it’s kinda similar to my results “physical touch” because it’s almost the same how we interact with other people and how we present our self’s by our actions or (feelings). We are all different but at the end we all as humans we have something in common .

3.) How are the 5 Love Languages an example of Symbolic Interaction? What are the symbols here? AND, How do the symbols affect the interactions? Answer each of these questions and cite Chapter 4. (3 - 4 sentences) The five love languages can be tested out through many different theories. The one I will be looking at is the “Symbolic Interaction Theory” This theory was created by George Herbert Mead. The major principal of this theory is that meaning exists because two people share commom symbols and interpretations. Furthermore, symbols only make sense because two people or more can agreed upon the meaning. This can be related to the five love languages because as human we act towards others on the basis of the meaning those others have for them. If you understand your partner’s love language then you will be able to know how to act towards that person. However if you do not understand their love language which is a symbol then you will not know how to convey what love language they need. A person must understand common ground to be able to interpet their partners feelings and attititudes. That is how one way love languages can be applied to the Symbolic Interaction Theory.

1) My primary love language is Words of Affirmation. I would say the quiz is accurate because I always remember the negative words people say to me even if it was just one word that was said 10 years ago I would keep that deep inside me hurting. I also think this is accurate because I play a competitive sport so when someone is cheering me on or my teammates are encouraging me it really pushes me forward.

2) Most of my friends love language is different from mine as they all would be primarily Quality time. "So we present ourselves in terms that suit the setting and our purposes," (Macionis, page 106) this statement clearly describes my experience of a different "reality" from my friends as they enjoys going out to events and eating out together but I would rather stay inside and call via computer, although we are different in love languages I tend to go along with the majority so I would go out and spend quality times with my friends.

3) The 5 languages are an example of symbolic interaction because it's our own way of communicating with each other. We are all humans who act accordingly to how we interpret the situations like for people who have the love language of Physical touch, if they received a hug from someone they would take that as a sign of love and caring. "Emotions seem very personal because they are "inside." Even so, just as society guides our behavior, it guides our emotional life." (Macionis, page 114) Humans interpret one another's behavior and these interpretation form a bond with another and is our own way of expressing and understanding others.

1.) According to the quiz my love language is physical touch. I would say that the quiz is accurate because I like showing my love through warm hugs and kisses most of the time.

2.) I would say that most of my friends love languages are different from mine. I feel like most of their love languages are “quality time” because they always want to hang out outside. I am an introverted person, which makes me have a different “reality” from them because I would rather stay in and hang out indoors.

3.) The 5 love languages are an example of symbolic interaction because everyone expresses love in different ways. Some people show their love by spending quality time with their loved ones or say words of affirmation. There are other people that like to show their love and affection through physical touch like hugs, kisses, holding hands, a pat in the shoulders, etc. For example, the textbook says,“communication using body movement, gestures and facial expressions rather than speech.’ (Macionis, pg.109) This means that we do not necessarily need to use our words to express our love towards someone else, we can always use non-verbal methods as well.

1. My primary love language was acts of service. I feel like it was accurate for the most part, but if I had to choose for myself I would pick spending quality time over acts of service. While it is nice when someone helps me out, I would put it second or third, as I would rather spend time with that person, even if we are not really doing anything.
2. I talked to a friend about the quiz and he said that his love language would be physical touch. I think that he prefers physical touch because he has been exposed to it more and that is usually the type of love that he receives from people that he cares a lot about. The social construct of reality, by definition, is the process by which people creatively shape reality based on social interaction. I think that my social reality is that because I spend a lot of time with people even when we don't do much, it is more meaningful to me than physical touch, whereas my friend does not get to spend a lot of quality time with people but when he does affection is shown through touch.
3. I think the 5 love languages are an example of symbolic interaction because they make up how we feel about the way we interact with people and how that turns into what love languages are important to us. I think symbols affect our interactions because when we have attached a meaning to something, it will be the way we view that action or form or expression no matter who is doing it. The book says that "how people see events depends on their different backgrounds, interests and intentions" (Macionis 106). I believe this applies here because everyone's love language will be different based on what they have experienced and what they desire.
