This type of essay is different from an argumentative essay because we don’t need to pick sides or prove that we are right. It is also not like a narrative essay, which is more like telling a personal story, or a descriptive essay, which focuses on details and feelings. The expository essay is more neutral — it’s just about giving facts in a logical way.

We think this type of essay is most useful in real life when people need to explain something clearly. For example, in school projects, at work trainings, or even when writing a simple guide for others.

We(Akzhan, Alima, Suleiman) chose narrative essay type because we wanted to share with our experience, also narrative essay has its own structure, we can write an experience with creative “moments” etc.

It was interesting assessment for me, working with group. Of course there were some challenges, about constructing main body, but it didn’t matter.

Our chosen topic is “Does social media do more harm than good to young people?”

We chose this topic because becoming urgent nowadays.

People spend their lives with social media more than anything else. That is way we wanted to show how its impact to our lives. No doubt that social media offers more opportunities but right now people cannot control the usage of it.

Our essay is argumentative, we have listed pros and cons of social media. This topic can be relevant everywhere around the world.

This type of essay seems like the easiest one, and closest to modern society and it opens up our topic.

We chose the topic “My university” as this topic is mutual for us and descriptive type of essay doesn’t need a lot of research, so it’s a little easier to write it.

As I already mentioned, we chose the descriptive type, which includes describing an object, person or experience. In our case it is university of Narxoz. Also in such type of essays we should use a lot of different sensory details and vivid language. Its difference from other types is that you don’t use evidence, just describe what you see, feel, smell, hear or taste.

In case with our essay, it could be used by high-school students when they choose university to study or by managers of Narxoz to assess the level of satisfaction of their students.

We chose this essay type, because this essay type is often used in universities, so we are familiar with it, this type allows us to cover different topics fully and this type have clear structure that’s easy to follow. This essay type is similar to argumentative essay, but this one is more short. It has clear transition between parts of essay, and clear structure such as introduction, main body (with 3 points) and conclusion( that also readdress with evidence that we provide in main body). This essay is more useful during studies and when you need to cover a topic without your personal opinion, for example in a science and research.

We chose our essay topic because it’s relevant problem that’s often overlooked among teenagers, almost all of us live sedentary lifestyle and have posture problems, that effects our mental and physical health

A real world situation where this type of essay would be useful is marketing and advertising, to persuade the customer by making them vividly imagine the product or service.

Furthermore, we both believe that Narrative type of essay is very creative and allows the writer to express his/her opinion. Our thesis statement is the following: I will never forget my trip to Vietnam, where the culture, so unusual compared to what I knew surprised me and showed another way of living. Narrative essay's thesis is different from others in use of words (pronoun "I"), it also shows more personal experiences and problems.

In our body we contain 3 main points about various aspects of Vietnamese culture (different transportation system, unusual and fresh cuisine, unique lifestyle), all the aspects which amazed Yaroslav the most. Instead of having typical organisation (introduction, main body, conclusion), narrative essay uses story-based structure. The purpose is also different as it usually not trying to persuade reader or inform him about processes or ect.

We think the best suited real world application of this type of essay would be when you need to share your personal experiences and background.
