1944- Colonel Kurt Steiner (1st Protagonist) is hired to lead the mission. He hires Irish patriot Liam Devlin to help him.


1944- They disguise themselves as Polish paratroopers and arrive in England using a captured British aircraft


  • December 23: Devlin meets with Molly Prior and she agrees to help them (he falls in love with her.)

  • December 24: The Germans finalize their plans

  • December 25: The German team launches their assault on Studley Constable. They are faced by British soldiers and civilians as they make their way towards Churchill.

  • December 26: They begin fighting with the British, but they ultimately fail. Steiner ends up sacrificing himself for Devlin to escape.

  • Devlin ends up fleeing to safety, but vows to continue fighting against the allies.

But at the time period the book was set in, the events of the war were different.


1943- Italy surrenders to the allies. Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin plan to meet to create a plan against the Nazis.


June 6th 1944- Doom-Day- Allied forces create a Western (united) front against Germany

  • Assassination attempt of Hitler

After events of story (just for context)


1945- Hitler commits suicide in a bunker

  • Germany ultimately surrenders

August 1945- USA drops atomic bombs on Hiroshima - Japan surrenders

  • WW2 is over
